Hi there! My 7-month booking window opens tomorrow and I'm confused on what to do. We've been planning to do a split stay - 4 nights at BCV and then 3 nights at Poly (studio at both resorts). We're going with my sister, who has already booked BCV and then BLT. I just checked the availability, and now our 2nd night at BCV is unavailable.

How do I waitlist the one night, and book the rest? What do I book for the Sunday night - a different resort, a 1-bedroom? Moving once during the trip for the split stay is fine, but I'd hate to move Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday.

I've never done the waitlist thing before so I'm a little confused as to how it works. Any advice would be appreciated - thanks!

All you can do is book the available nights as you become eligible and do a waitlist for the missing date. After getting all of your dates contact MS to have the separate reservations merged to the first reservation.

Okay, so tomorrow I book the first night and waitlist the second night, then I have to wait a few days and book the next 2 nights, then wait and book the final 3? I should also book something for the missing night so we don't end up without a room for the night, correct? Sorry, this is so confusing to me!

Now you can see why owning your favorite resorts and booking there at 11 months all at once makes life easier.

At 7 months you can book the first night. The next day, 7 months from that date you can do the waitlist, 7 months from the last 2 nights you can book both nights. Now you wait until 7 months from the poly and book those nights.

Thanks for this. We actually are in the process of closing on a BCV resale - I wish we would have closed sooner!

I suppose in an ideal world that is correct, but not everyone can afford to own at multiple resorts. I want to visit at least 7 of the DVC resorts at WDW over the next several years and I enjoy them all for different reasons, but I sure can't afford to own and pay dues at all 7 of them, so sometimes you just have to do the best you can at the 7 month window.

True but as time goes on and you stay at all of the resorts, favorites do stick out. We will probably never stay at AKV, BLT or BCV again and we will sell those contracts. Bolder Ridge, VGF and BWV are our keepers, and we will rotate our WDW stays between them. While owning multiple resorts isn't for everyone, it has worked for us, we can book at 11 months and rent the points that we don't use to cover our dues.

For sure, if I felt like we could own enough points spread out over multiple resorts to have enough to book a whole trip at 11 months we would, so I don't blame you at all, but a lot of us can't pull that off.

We went Disney/DVC nutz and pretty much gave up vacations, eating out, even reduced Christmas gifts for several years to save for our DVC purchases and then our Disney vacations. When we first bought DVC was different, we knew and talked to DVC managers, had lunch with them, received DVC gift baskets in our room just because, seemed to care more about the members compared to today. Many see Disney as a vacation destination, we saw it as a lifestyle. :-)

Most of my points are OKW. If that is the only place I can stay, I'm fine with it. I love OKW.
