Help planning youth group meal

I've done the taco bar, taco soup, big pans of "goulash" (macaroni, tomatoes, beef, etc.), but one that went over really well because it was different was grilled cheese sandwiches and two choices of canned soup - tomato or chicken noodle. We also put out carrot sticks, grapes, and cookies. Very simple, but it seemed to strike some kind of chord.

My DH and I have volunteered to cook a meal for the church youth group - ages 13-18, maybe 35-50 kids/adults. The kids will have a meeting and then come to our gym where tables are setup to eat dinner - so it won't be fancy. I don't want to do hotdogs, burgers, pizza or spaghetti because these are done all the time. I will be able to use the church industrial kitchen/supplies but the cost of the food is considered our "donation" - so I can't spend too much. I need easy, economical and fun food ideas for the teenage crowd - and dessert. Any ideas please?

Spiral ham, baked beans, macaroni salad, tossed salad and cake.

How about roast beef and noodles? Get a couple of good sized cheap roasts on sale and cook them in a crock pot. Shred them and mix them with cooked egg noodles in beef broth. Serve with a a side salad and some cookies or rice crispy treats. My kids always gobble this up when I make it.

I like the taco or baked potato bar as well. Soup and salad would work too. Homemade soups are relatively cheap and easy to make in big batches.
