Hello, need help from the vets as to which days you would do disneyland. taking into consideration it will only be open late on the weekends when we go

Arrive Saturday Sept 20th, could be in the parks by early afternoon if we choose this as a disney day.

5 day hopper, want to do a day at Universal and would like an off/beach day if possible

Leave Sat Sept 27, no option for disney this day as we leave early.

Want to take advantage of hopefully some low crowd days, as well as experience the parks at night. How would you spread it all out?

Is Universal really really awesome and worth it? haven't been there in almost 20 years. just wondering if 6 'park' days is going to wear us out. another option would be to only do a 4 day hopper at disney and save a bit of $, I like the idea of 5 though, even if it means one of the days we only put a few hours in the park

thoughts?

When you arrive on the 20th you should take your time and enjoy the surroundings. Downtown Disney, Swimming Pool, Trader Sam's, Steakhouse 55 etc...

You should only need a 4 day park hopper or 2 day park hopper and 2 day single ticket.
Sunday... choose a Disney Park
Monday... choose the other Disney park
Tuesday Universal... If you have the money get the VIP Experience at Universal. By itself Universal is no Disneyland. Its a movie studio with a theme park inside of it so there are not as many attractions as Disney. If you love the movies its a must do.
Wednesday,Thursday park hop
Friday relax maybe visit the beach.
Saturday time to come home

What time of day do you arrive on Saturday? Being as you are going in late September, realize that the parks will likely close at 8pm on weekdays and Fire Works and Fantasmic will only be shown on Fri, Sat, Sun. How many people are in your group and what are their ages? Are you the early morning type or do you sleep in and enjoy the parks in the evenings? How long is your flight in on the 20th and do you experience a time change? I think that if you arrive at around noon on Saturday and you aren't jet lagged, you should spend that half day in the parks, since you only have 3 days during your trip to see Fantasmic and Fire Works. If you don't go to the parks on Saturday, then you have Sunday to see one, and then Friday to see the other. Seeing as you have an early flight the next day, you may not want a late night on the 26th. I don't know about Universal, as my kids are too young to enjoy it there, but here's what I'd do for your dates and plans: Sat, Sun, Mon disneyland, Tuesday beach, Wednesday Universal, Thursday and Friday Disneyland, Saturday head home.

We much prefer to do 5 day park hoppers, and even then we don't get to do everything we set out to do, so thats what I would recommend.

Rubygoose pretty much covered all my questions and I agree with her day recommendations.... you are going during a time when some rides will be down so be sure and be aware.

Take a look at the Historical Park hours to get an idea of park hours each day as well as the dates that Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain will be down for their Halloween time overlays:

Also check out "HydroGuy's High Season/Off Season Tradeoff Rule" this might help you figure out which days to go where:

So it sounds like you have 6 full days and one half day. mid-September will have low crowds, with lower crowds on weekdays mon-thurs. but as Ruby said, some shows are only on weekends. So I would go to DL and DCA on Friday, and end the trip with a World of Color show. how old are your kids? I think universal is a must see. the simpsons ride is amazing.
this is what I suggest.

Arrive Saturday afternoon. check into hotel, go for grocery run. relax have dinner, walk around DTD, shop, visit trader sams.
Sunday - Universal
Monday - Disneyland (DL)
Tuesday - California Adventure (DCA)
Wednesday - beach day / relax day
Thursday - park hop between DL and DCA
Friday - park hop between DL and DCA (end the trip with a World of color show)
Saturday - fly home.
