HELP!! Planning 1st day....Xmas parade taping??

OK - so our first day of our second trip to WDW is Saturday 12/6..(yay, that is coming right up!)...we'll be staying at the Contemp through SoG and will be arriving in the world around noon or so. Since we're so close to MK, and since MK tends to be the most "magical" park, I was planning on heading over there for the first day - ending up at Spectro that night..

Now I'm reading that the xmas parade taping is that same day...will it be an **absolute ZOO**?? Should we reconsider and head to Epcot instead? We all love Epcot just as much as MK - but if all things were equal, I'd spend the 1st day at MK. I see that there is another Spectro on Monday 12/8.....

Help, I'm so wishy-washy!!

Any thoughts??

It will probably be a zoo but it might be really cool to be there for the taping of the parade. It's not often that you get that chance.

It's a total zoo that day! They tape the parade in segments all day long with the performers so people are lined up all along the parade route. The actual full parade is taped late in the day. It was neat to see but I'm not sure I would do it again.

We're trying to figure out the exact same thing! I thought the parade would be fun to see, but now that I've heard how long it takes and how big the crowds will be, I'm reconsidering. If it were just me and dh, I'd definitely go to see the parade taping. However, I know my 3 and 5 yr old boys won't want to sit for that, so I think we're going to skip it. I'm considering going to another park during the morning/afternoon and hopping over to the Magic Kingdom in the evening since they stay open late that night. Bobcat - were the rides equally "zoo-y" too, or just the parade route? Will the whole MK be just one big mob scene?
