The only time I could book my Fantasy Package was Oct. 23rd-30th. Now I find out that the FUNAI Classic at the WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort is going on that weekend. How does this affect the crowds at the parks? I was hoping for a slow time of year (this is why I booked in an "off" month).

I've been there twice during the "Classic." I'd make the following suggestions:

#1 Don't worry about it, it just isn't that bad.
#2 Stay the hell out of MK on Saturday (this has nothing to do with the Funai, it's just a personal philosophy).
#3 Relax and don't worry about it.

Here's the deal: The crowds in Orlando WILL go up. But the traffic in the parks, from what I've seen, is affected minimally. Most people that come to this event are THERE TO SEE THE EVENT.

What it DOES mean is be glad you're on site. Use Disney transportation, this weekend more than most. The roads get massively clogged. And the on-site, out-of-park restaurants can get nusty, so don't count on any dinners without PS. And during this time, 192 (restaurants, hotels, and especially traffic) can be NUT'S.

But as for the parks? Yeah, it raises crowd levels, but hardly enough to warrant panic. If they expected New Years Eve crowds from the Funai, they'd have blacked out those dates for FTP.

Have fun!

Pat

Ditto what Pat said! The golf tourney doesn't effect the crowds that much at all. We did this in Oct. 1999 (actually went to the tourney!) and are planning on doing it again in Oct. 2004. If I remember correctly, the one thing that did effect the crowds was that it is school holiday for the UK.

It is school holiday in the UK and a very popular time to visit WDW. We were there that time last year and the crowds weren't bad at all :D

We were there last year during the golf tournament and it was crowded... although I must say that my idea of crowded is probably a little jaded. We normally go the week after Labor Day (described as the least crowded week of the entire year) so any crowds seem a lot to us. To give you an idea of the wait times:

ToT - 60 minutes
RnR - 45 minutes
Test Track - 60 - 90 minutes

Not to worry! We were there last Oct. for my sister's wedding. The golf didnt affect us at all. The only time I felt crowds were bad was at the Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party at MK and I doubt that had anything to do with golf!
We used Fast Pass and saw everything we wanted to! You will have a great time- beautiful weather in Oct!

Is the tournament the weekend of the 24th or the 30th? I just want to prepare myself.
