Help!!! Outside photographer has to sign an agreement with Disney?!

Hello!

So, I am going to be a Memories bride in February 2014. We have our hotel, officiant, and outside photographer booked. Part of the reason that I decided to go with an outside photographer was because I wanted to be guaranteed to have one that I was happy with (not a big fan of Disney's "request one you want, but you're not guaranteed to get them" policy). Another factor was that my fiance is a full time manual wheelchair user, and I am not. Having done research on photography for other couples in our situation, well, let's just say that there is not a lot of quality work out there. I found a photographer that I am super thrilled to work with because they have experience working with a couple in the same situation. I loved their work because the wheelchair did not become the focus of the pictures, nor did it appear that they were trying to hide the fact that the guy used one. I was so determined to have this particular photographer, that I actually scheduled the wedding around when they would be available.

Anyhoos...I got my Letter of Agreement yesterday from Disney, and I noticed that they require outside photographers to sign some sort of agreement, and now I'm having a complete freak out!!! Is the agreement going to be something that most photographers would agree to? Because, if they say that the photographer can't use their work on their own website, we may have an issue. I've already paid the deposit to the photographer (silly, I know, but I really wanted them), and I'm afraid that Disney's requirements may be too stringent and that our photographer won't want to do it any more :-(. So upset and stressed out right now! Please help!!!

Judging by the number of brides that use outside phogs, I don't think the contract is too off putting. I wouldn't be too worried. You can probably request a copy from your coordinator/planner.

First off, Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! and at Disney! It is going to be amazing! I didn't get to listen to the whole thing yet but I think this podcast will explain the rules. As a professional Photographer myself I know I would jump at the opportunity to shoot at Disney. Just talk to your photog and your planners and I am sure it will be fine. Relax and enjoy your special day! It will be spectacular!!

Ack I cant post a link so I'll add spaces...

Most of the outside photographers that work with Disney are aware of the agreement and usually send it right to Disney themselves. It's pretty standard. Shouldn't be anything for them to balk over.

Right, if it's a photog that has done Disney weddings before, they will already be familiar with the contract (ie, Randy, Regina Hyman, the Arndts)....

If it's someone who has not done Disney weddings before, you'll have to show it to them and see...

Well I know this isn't a problem because all the regular outside photography vendors post photos on their websites all the time.

Here's a link to the podcast about photography (though it's really about photography inside the parks—there are no restrictions on photographers at the resort): http://disneyweddingpodcast.com/201...ide-photography-videography-inside-the-parks/

Our photographers didn't seem to think Disney's photo release was very scary. You may not even get one, since your event isn't inside a park. I'm sure it won't be a problem. :thumbsup2

Claire! You just had a baby two days ago! What are you doing posting on the DIS?!?

Silly! Lol. Rest up and congrats again!

Thank you all, so very much for your responses!!! I'm feeling better all ready, even without having a definitive answer from my photographers just yet. However, based on your responses, I feel as though I've been able to take a solid ten steps back from the ledge! (I wrote the original post in a massive panic about five minutes before I had to rush off to work).

It's been an extremely stressful year and a bit. My fiance and I spent about a year working on getting a Fiance Visa for me and now, trying to plan a wedding at Disney from Ontario, Canada while my fiance is in Alabama can be more than a little overwhelming at times to say the least. So beyond the impact of the useful information everyone provided, I also just wanted to thank everyone for taking the time to respond to my question. It's wonderful to have that kind of support, and with all of the things involved in our wedding, I will definitely be posting more questions in the very near future. Thank you again!!!

And, on a side note, I'd also like to congratulate you, Claire, on your new bundle of joy!!! What a wonderful and exciting time for your family! Congratulations!!! :)

That's what we are here for!

Thanks very much, here's a photo of her, she's called Freya Evangeline.

Awwwww!!!!! She's absolutely adorable!!!! And what a great name as well! Congratulations again!!! :goodvibes

(I'm sorry for the delayed response. My laptop decided to die the big death this week. Of course the timing couldn't be more perfect - you know, just trying to plan a wedding and move to another country in the next few months, no biggie!!! ).
