Santa needs help. The big guy has decided he is bringing a Nintendo DS to my almost 6 year old son. But he has no clue what to bring my nearly 4 year old daughter! She is a girly girl, yet tough at the same time. Santa gennerally only brings stockings and one big gift to our house. Any ideas for a big gift? Under $120??? Thanks!

How about a pink Leapster and some games? My (now 5 yr old dd twins) got Leapsters as gifts when they were 4 and absolutely LOVE them! Once you get the Leapster, recharger (highly recommended) and a couple games you'd be set. Oh and at Amazon if you buy 2 games you get $15 off. I just got four new games for my girls for about $50. I had to checkout twice though because they only give you the $15 once per order ;)

HTH,
Alix

ETA: Ohhh if you already have a Leapster you can get her the Disney Princess - Enchanted Tales Deluxe Princess Castle for $90 at TRU!

Does she have a two wheeler with training wheels?

How about a CD player and some Disney Channel CDs?

(And don't get caught up in the cost thing. At that age, they're more into size than cost. If she gets a large $30 dollhouse, I bet it's your son who feels slighted.)

perhaps an American Girl Bitty Baby? if you spend $100.00 or more, you can get free shipping until 11/20/07. Code is 155573.

My dd is about to turn 4 in January, and one of her big gifts this year will be the pink leapster! I bought ds9 and ds6 the ds lite with nintendodogs and got dd the pink leapster with the pet pal game (I'm guessing it is a little similar to nintendodogs). Both my older boys loved their leapsters and used them all the time, so I think it is a great toy!
Also she got the bitty baby last year and it is her hands down favorite toy, along with her step 2 kitchen. This year, she is getting the bitty twins from American girl!:cool1:
She is also a real girly girl and seems to love to role-play. The rose petal cottage also looks really cool.
Good luck and happy shopping!

Our girls really enjoyed the Princess Vanity when they were younger. They also liked the kitchens.

I have to say their favorite gift was a 2 person tent from Bass Pro Shop. It serves as a playhouse, a fun place to sleep during sleepovers, and a catch all for their toys.

Let's see... my 4 1/2 year old's favorites...

For her birthday last year she got a shiny red tricycle. Loved that. Also last Christmas, a little Tykes kitchen playset. It has a kitchen on one side and "outdoor" stuff on the other side... BBQ grill, picnic bench, little flowers, etc. Various parts of it (BBQ, stove, etc) make cooking noises. We also got her a set of dishes and plastic food... good for HOURS of playtime.

How about a dress-up trunk? Find a cool box or storage container, then fill it with dress up costumes (Disney Princess!), pretend shoes and jewelry, pretend cell phones and make-up, wands, etc. You could tailor the things you put in the trunk to fit your daughter. I know my kids love to play dress-up.

Your DD is the perfect age for a Bitty Baby by American Girl.

For $100.00 you could get the starter set.

Even better...if she gets Bitty Baby, you'll always have something to tell the relatives at birthdays & Christmas now when they ask what they can get for your DD. You can tell them, "Outfits & accessories".

There's a crib, highchair, bouncy seat...you name it, to go along with the doll.

Agreeing with many of the PP:

bitty baby (DD4's favorite gift last Christmas) - starter collection is about $100
Leapster (2nd favorite gift last year)
dollhouse - either the Loving Family twin time doll house (last year from Santa) or the Disney Princesses Enchanted Castle (this year from Santa)
kitchen
bike
plasma car

I second the leapster...but then again, I'm always trying to add education to their play stuff...
My son (now 9) LOVED his leapster too. Not only does it help w/ reading and math skills but dexterity and hand eye coordination as well.

...t.

My DD is 5 now.

She still loves the Leapster she inherited from her older brother when he got his DS last year for Christmas.

I agree with others who recommend a doll house. We got the Fisher Price Loving Family set, and it's great.

I see others have said Bitty Baby, but my DD rejected all babies when she was about 4 and 1/2 (she told me she was too old for them), so I'd personally be careful about spending so much unless you know she'll like it.

I'd say the kid-tough digital camera (in pink)...the Leapster is also a good idea.

I like the Bitty Baby idea best....but then, my dd's love dolls!

My nearly 5 yo dd loves the Wii as much as her older brothers!!! One of her birthday gifts next week will be the Disney Enchanted Princess game for the Wii. The Wii version seems to be well-reviewed, and the game is supposed to be very friendly to younger players -- not that she'll need that feature.

Dd's big gifts last year were her Lee Middleton dolls. For her birthday, we gave her the toddler-sized doll; and, for Christmas, we gave her a "baby" doll. In addition to being absolutely gorgeous and well-made dolls, they can wear dd's old baby clothes...of which we have many.

Another big hit at Christmastime was the Disney Mix Stick. Dd wanted an Ipod like her brothers, but she really wasn't able to use it yet. The Disney Mix Stick was perfect. It's very simple and virtually indestructable.

Dd also received a number of princess dress-up outfits last year and is sure to get some replacements this year. In fact, clothes of any sort have been and continue to be a huge hit with dd.

This year, dd is getting a digital camera for Xmas. While it won't be as fancy or expensive as the one we're getting one of her db's, it will be a nice camera. We've learned from experience not to fool with the cameras made for children.

Thanks for all the ideas!

I never thought my kids were spoiled till I starting reading your ideas. Unfortunately, she already has a leapster, a princess vanity, more dress up stuff then you can imagine, the bitty twins, the twin time dollhouse, and a two wheeler bike, lol! I am drawn to the Rose Petal Cottage, but dont know how much use it would really get. Then I also love the Calico Critters, but some of the pieces seem so tiny.

my almost 4 yr old (5 days after Christmas) girly girl is getting the princess throne from disney store. its interactive. theres one in tru toy book but its not interactive. shes gonna flip for it! she loves dress up,etc and is into all things girly.

My DD 4 loves horses. She is getting a large wood stable and some Breyer horses for Xmas. The stable is by Maxim. It is great because I told the rest of the family and they are getting her accessories for it. Harnesses, blankets, saddles, farm animals, etc.
She is going to love it.

Wow - on the other side of the coin, reading these posts makes me feel like my dd4 is deprived. She doesn't have the bitty dolls, leapster, digital camera....she does have a bike ($6 at a garage sale) - Oh - one word of warning on the bike thing - make sure it is a 'good' bike with kickstand - she might not be using the training wheels for long...dd ditched her training wheels a month before she turned 4 and now we're out shopping for a bigger bike for her because it doesn't have a kickstand. Maybe that's what her big xmas gift will be.

My dd loves anything that can be 'real' - she's getting a blender/toaster combo to go into her play kitchen. And she loves dress up clothes - she'll be getting a lot.

Not a big gift but maybe you could get her some smaller ones - how about puzzles? My dd will be getting some of these.
