My kids (10 and 15) and I will get to Orlando on a Friday afternoon about 3:30 local time. We will check into the Hyatt and then want to hurry up and do something in Orlando before we leave the next morning for the cruise. Since this will be in January I have found out (bummer) that all of the parks close around 7:30. By the time we check in and get a ride we probably wouldn't get anywhere until 5:00 if we were lucky. We have seen the Disney parks - thought about going to Universal. Does anyone have any better ideas? We don't want to waste our only time in Orlando being close to so many cool attractions. Any help would be appreciated.

If I were you, I'd just head to Downtown Disney, hang out & have dinner there. It would not be worth it to go to any park with the limited time.

I agree with "PUG" ...Downtown is so huge now that there is lots to see & do.....also many choises for eating...

Definitely take a run to Downtown Disney, lots to do, and definitely gets you in the mood to board the boat. That's what I did before my March cruise.
I would definitely try to call ahead tho' to get priority seating at a restaurant. They were all filled up in March, ended up at McDonalds.

Thank you so much for your replies. You all have given me great advice!

Anyone wanting information on Orlando, Brevard County and Key West etc and are most welcomed to drop me a note at snelsonbrown@aol.com - I have a bunch of pamplets, coupons etc on this places that could help while there.
