Help. On messenger & chat boards what does xDDD mean?

I have been seeing this a lot more lately and I don't know if I am being really dense or what - but I can't figure out what it means. I even tried googling it and all I got was a bunch of examples of people using it, nothing that told me what it meant.

AAhh, now I get it. So the more D's, the more you are laughing - right? Guess I must be old school, because I get along just fine with lol, lmao, lmho, etc. Makes be feel better to know now because I am seeing a lot of kids using it and I wanted to make sure it didn't mean something else

I knew I would get a quick answer if I asked everyone on the DIS. Almost as fast as googling and having to click open each link.
