Help on Holding Account! Have screwed up with points again!!

Well have screwed up with points again. We had made a ressy with this year and next years points for this September but, we went to Portugal in May instead and I forgot to cancel Septembers ressy. So now most of this year and next years points are put in a holding account and am a bit confused and have questions.

1) We hope to go sometime between January and May next year. Which will be easiest to book two months out?

2) Do we have to book exactly two months out or can it be less - eg. one month.

3) If we book two months out for February and change our minds to May, would it still be possible to do this.

4) Can we use the points for the Disney hotel rooms too incase we can't get all our nights in DVC?

January will likely be the easier time to book within 60 days, but early May is also a good time to reserve.

Holding account points may be used for reservations within 60 days or less.

If you reserve and cancel again, the points are still subject to the holding account rules. So a Feb cancellation could still be used for a May trip.

The points may be used for non-DVC esevations, but those may not be booked during the last 2 months of your use year.

Keep asking questions! It does take a little time to figure out all of the intricacies of the system. Experience can be a great learning tool!

Cinderella -- Get a big calendar and map out your trips and your deadlines. You are making me very nervous!

The funny thing is, last time you made a " mistake" I think it worked out quite well for you!

Just a question - doesn't your use year come into play too? Don't these points have to be used before your next use year begins?

Yes. Holding account points MUST be used before the end of your use year. They cannot be banked into the next year.

We booked Vero Beach for this past May with just a 2-week notice--got what we wanted (Deluxe Inn room). We also went to VB in January on a short notice. It was so relaxing that we ended up cancelling our BWV reservation and extending our VB stay! That was VERY short term! So....if you can't get WDW, maybe try HH or VB.
