HELP on chosing a Waterproof Digital Camera

I just called Olympus and there is no recall on the 770. I wanted to know incase it was something that needed to be replaced on ours...:)

Just the opposite for us.. the Pentax looked better and was cheaper..

Also there are 2 models of the Olympus.. the 770 and 790.. The 790 is good to roughly 10 foot.. the 770 is good for roughly 25 foot.. HOWEVER... there are several recalls on the Olympus and the 770 is being discontinued with the new model coming out in March..

Probaly look at the that one when it does come out. But, for the Easter 08 cruise didn't want to take any chances of not having a camera.. So we got the Pentax for now...:surfweb:

HMMM so now I am going to have to think about this...either wait to see what is coming out in the place of the 770 or just get it now?!? You just never know if the new one will be better.

Actually there are 2 new models coming out. I saw them on the Olympus site.
A 1030 SW which has a 3x6 wide angle zoom lens. Says its shockproof to 6.6 ft as compared to the 770 which is 5ft. And waterproof to 33ft like 770. And the 850 which is only waterproof to 10 feet..shock proof to 5 ft. I would bet the price of the 770 will fall once the new ones come out...;) Im sure the price of the newer ones will be higher. I didnt see a price for either but all the specifications are there on the site for you to compare...

I have the Pentax W30 and love it! Took it on both DCL cruises last year, and loved the photos! I highly recommend it.

I've got the Canon SD750 and bought the underwater housing for it. Used it in December for the first time and was very happy with the images it took while in the housing - on land and in the water.
