Help! Non-prescription acid reflux-type remedies?

Thanks for the information Lora. I wonder if the doctor will recommend a scope before she prescribes anything different?

That is interesting about the vertigo djgeffers1! My dad has been experiencing very severe vertigo - has had CAT scans, MRI, some kind of special eletro-something to get rid of the "debris" in his head :confused: and has no answers. He has good days and not so good days. And he has always had a bad stomach. I will pass what you said on to him.

Wishing on a star;
My condition is being monitored by the doctor on a regular basis and it's something that he always asks even if I go in for something else. You are absolutely right though, everyone should consult with a doctor for this condition, it's more serious than some people think it is.

Denise, Mskanga, and all....

Yes, thank you! Of course, I did not mean anything to any poster personally. :D So sorry if anyone thought so.....

I just had not seen any posts thus far that mentioned how serious this type of thing can be, relating to cancer, heart problems, ulcers, etc. So, I wanted to kind of put in a serious word for all readers here.

Hope all is well with everyone with this regard!!!

I had an acid reflux attack a few years ago…it was the first time. I really thought I was having a heart attack. I went to the doctors and he checked me out and said it wasn’t a heart attack it was acid reflux. I told him I never had it before..he said “you are getting old and need to watch what you eat". BTW I had 3 hotdogs the day of the attack.

He gave me a week’s supply of pills…something starting with a P????. It cleared it right up.

I have never had an attack like that again …whenever I feel a little heart burn coming on I take Mylanta…I swear by the stuff.

Good luck

I have acid reflux, hiatel hernia and a inflamed esophagus. I see my gastro doctor regularly and am on the purple pill.
I use Wrigley Surpass Antacid chewing gum for extra relief.
I have had my gall bladder scanned and its not the gall bladder.
I have to watch gravies and sauces, but the most important thing is to communicate your symptoms and changes to your doctor.
