I have been checking the Southwest Airlines site for flights out of Buffalo every evening for months now. The price has not yet dropped below $79 and now all the NS flights are listed as unavailable. All they have left for our departure date are now $149. Should I wait for them to realease more tickets at the $79 price or should I just book now at $149? I'd love your advice! PS. I am booking 16 seats...

If you know when you want to go book the tickets. With Southwest you can book the tickets and then if lower fares come out get a refund or credit to be used within one year of purchase. If the lower fares are showing as being unavailable you probably won't get a lower fare unless you get a ding fare.

Hope this helps.

Can you alter your dates to get the cheaper fares? I just booked our trip for March and had to alter the dates to get the $74 fares, now I'm just waiting for a DING so I can get a refund and get cheaper tickets!

Book now!

If you know the exact dates and times you want and are not planning to change those, I'd say book now. From what I have learned and experienced, if you book and a lower prices comes out for your exact dates and time, you just alter your original reservation on line and then call their refund office and ask for a refund to your credit card. They say that you can only get a credit for future travel for any changes you make, but apparently if you keep the same dates and time, they will give you a credit to your credit card. Just a few weeks ago I was able to get a $200 USD credit card refund - I had originally booked a flight at 130/person in Sept and it went down to 79/person in Nov. Good Luck! Jo

Book now.

I would have booked long before now if I was booking 16 seats at the best available rate at that time. If you get a Ding fare, that's great... if there aren't any Ding fares, then at least you've got seats at the best available rate, plus you have guaranteed seats on the flight that you want.

If you wait for the Ding fares to come out, you may be disappointed.

FYI: Since you are booking a group of 16 call Southwest about a group rate. They will sell it to you at $135 each way (I think) and then will flag your booking so that they know you are all travelling together. They don't often overbook but if they know there is a group it lowers the possibility of a overbooked flight. I don't think you would be eligible for any ding fares though if you book thru the group department.

I was watching both Southwest and JetBlue out of Buffalo. SW never seemed to drop but Jetblue has had two sales since then. I ended up getting a great deal with JB. Yes I have to change planes but Im ok with that.

Id check out Jetblue. Last time I checked it was $59 each way.

Did it! Added a day to get the internet special and will wait for a ding if they have it. Thanks everyone!!!
