Help needed

My mom had to change her flight last minute and is now flying out of Sanford. We are currently at POFQ and I'm wondering if I should just call her a taxi or try to find a car service?? Would love some help and advice. Thanks

Yes you will need arrange for a shuttle to pick her up. Cost will be $141 for a one way trip before tip according to the reservation pricing I just did for you on the Mears web page.. A shuttle will charge a flat rate whereas a cab charges by the mile/minute.

Sanford now offers a shuttle service to Disney for around $70. I have been pricing flights to Sanford using Allegiant and they always give me the option to book shuttle service. I think the price is for round trip service.

When I used the taxi fare finder from POFQ to Sanford it said $57. Is that not even close? I use don't want to pay $140.

Ok, after talking to bell services and concierge here at POFQ I wasn't getting any info. Apparently nobody here knows anything about Sanford airport. So I did some more research myself online and found a shuttle called Horizons that will pick mom up at POFQ and take her to Sanford for $35. Huge savings over the taxi which quoted us $160.

I would have to wonder how they can charge so little. Sanford is close to an hour away....normally twice the cost of getting to MCO! To get from WDW to MCO, it's about $50-60! It should be almost $100 one way to Sanford! Please let us know how it goes. We are always looking for alternative ways to and from Sanford.

I pay 95 for one way...Sanford to Windermere and I use Town car Services of Orlando.

The lady I booked it with over the phone said it would be a shuttle van. And they pick up other people on property. Maybe that's why it's only $35?? My mom doesn't mind riding with others, she just wants to get to the airport whichever way is cheapest.

That's odd....maybe because they can add other passengers more easily between 7am-7pm? Be sure to let us know how mom makes out Erika!!

Allegiant air seems to let you book a shuttle service for $62 R/T. The picture looks like a Horizon bus. Mears charges $36 R/T from MCO. $62 sounds about right for a shared shuttle.

Allegiant wants you to book the shuttle when you make your airline reservation. Looks like the OP found a way to book the shuttle directly.

I'd plan on making lots of stops.

I called 407-826-9999 to make the reservation. I called again today to double check everything. They said sometimes they do have others to pickup but as it stands right now mom is their only pickup tomorrow. They said they will get her at the front entrance of POFQ at 9:00 and take her straight to Orlando Sanford. Said she should arrive there approximately 10:00 am.

Everything went great! The driver was already out front waiting for Mom when we came down this morning. It was a nice passenger van, clean and looked new. He said she was the only person riding and he wasn't in a rush so she took her time and bought some snacks before leaving. Very friendly driver!!! He took her straight to the airport, no other stops. Total was $35. What a great savings!!!!!

Thanks for this info, I'm considering using Allegiant on my next trip to WDW.
