Hi am new to all of this so not sure if I'm in the right place but am needing some help as I'm due to renew my wedding vows in Florida June of 2012, have been working with a wedding planner as I'm in the UK and just been to Florida and visited the venue only to realise that it wasn't anything like what we were expecting:confused3 The problem I now have is I have 13 people flying out and I don't have a venue to hold the ceremony or reception so if anyone could suggest somewhere in or around Disney I would be very very grateful

Hi and welcome to the boards!

I'm sorry to hear you venue visit didn't go as well as you hoped.

There are several places that you can renew your vows in and around Disney.

First of all you can go through Disney Fairytale Weddings (DFTW) you can take a look at their venues and packages on their main site: http://disneyweddings.disney.go.com/weddings/florida/collections/overview

The Swan and Dolphin hotel is also VERY popular and is right in the center of Disney. For more information on their weddings go to: http://www.swandolphin.com/weddings/

There are also several other spots such as: Fulton's and the characters of flight balloon at Downtown Disney: http://www.disneyweddingblog.com/2010/08/characters-in-flight-weddings-at.html

I hope that helps a little. :)

There are many wonderful venues around Walt Disney World. Are you working with Disney Fairy Tale Weddings or an outside wedding planner?

For locations not involving Disney Fairy Tale Weddings, I would highly recommend the Disney's Swan Resort (http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/swan-resort/). Even though it says it's Disney, it is not owned by Disney.

The list could really go on and on, so it would be helpful to know your criteria. Do you just want a FL wedding? Do you want a Disney themed wedding? Indoor location? Outdoor location? Beach?

Hi Jo
Welcome from another English VR bride and another Jo!!
My husband and I renewed our vows at the Swan Hotel in WDW this past May!! It was truly magical and the best day of our lives!!
I cannot recommend the Swan or my wedding planner (Karen from 'Just Marry') highly enough!!
Everything was arranged via e-mail, and Karen was extremely quick and efficient about answering all my queries and concerns, and usually got back to me the same day. I think it is very important when planning an important event from such a distance, that the communication with your planner is very good.
I chose my own officiant, photographer, musician and cake-maker and Karen helped me arrange a florist and transportation. She worked with me every step of the way from my initial inquiry through all the booking and planning and was there to coordinate our big day itself!! Our day ran like clockwork!!!
Drop 'Just Marry' an e-mail and they will get back to you with some information (without obligation, of course). Here is the link to their website

Check out my PJ/TR to get a peek at how my day looked. The link is in my signature below.

Hi tinkerbell 766
I have been reading you PJ all night found it last night and was still reading it a 3 am this morning :surfweb:

Aww thanks so much sweetie - what patience you have to read all of my ramblings!!! Where in England are you? Have you made any decisions yet about your VR?

Tinkerbell 766
I'm in the north east, haven't quite made up my mind yet still a bit cautious!!

I am in the North West (Cumbria). What do you feel cautious about? Can I help?

Tinkerbell 766
Hi just a bit cautious as had already paid my deposit for the other venue and am now going to lose this so kind of feeling like once bitten twice shy.
Can you give me the name of you photographer?

Thanks have contacted Randy today. My other venue was parodied cove all the pictures we had sent looked lovely but when we visited it just didn't match up we have a 7 year old daughter and was wanting her to be able to swim but the water was disgusting when we asked if it was ok to paddle in the lady said "oh yes it fine we have only ever seen ONE alligator " :worried:

Oh dear!! I understand your concerns with the alligator thing!!! I just googled some photos of Paradise Cove and I must say I wasn't too impressed. Strange, because it seems to be a fairly popular choice for UK brides (or so it appears on the other British boards). I am sorry it didn't work out for you. Try not to get too disheartened and look at other venues for your special day!!

Hi have heard back from Randy and think I'm going to go with him as your pictures were lovely. Was looking at all your labels you did four your welcome bags they are really good was thinking of doing something like that for my guest was it very time consuming ?

Fantastic sweetie - I am sure you will not be disappointed with Randy. He is brilliant and makes you feel so comfortable!!
Have you decided on a venue yet?
The most time consuming bit was printing and cutting out the labels. How many guests will you be having?
If you need any help with designing your labels, give me a shout!! I'd be happy to help!!

Hi can anyone recommend anywhere with a beach theme for our vow renewal other than swan and dolphin as Karen from just marry said it wasn't very private on their beach :confused3

Karen is always very honest and helpful, and it is, in fact, very true that the S/D beach is not too private at all. I am sure you have seen photos of the beach which is used for ceremonies at the S/D, and at first, it looks quite private, but behind where the ceremony is set up, there is a public footpath (which runs between DHS and Epcot IG)
Actually, all the beaches that are used at WDW for weddings and VRs are a bit on the public side!! There is certainly not one at WDW (I don't think - please correct if I am wrong), that is totally private, as all are public beaches and have the potential for guests to be walking past during the ceremony. If it is a private beach you are interested in, you may be better looking outside of WDW.
Good luck sweetie, and keep us posted

If you mean by beach theme on or near a beach then you probably won't get anything private as by their very nature a beach is public.
