I am crossing all of my fingers and toes here, saying prayers that a wise Dis'er will have my answer and going to bed. I've been working at this all night.

Problem: Outlook Express has been sending duplicate messages over and over until I manually remove them from the Outbox. It does not transfer them to Sent Items after sending, but instead keeps them in Outbox and continues to send without stopping.

This is especially important, because I run my photography business from my home and I'm literally about to pull my hair out! :sad2:

I did some research online and it seems that Outlook may be freaking out because it's near capacity although I had been compressing files. Anyway....I had a suggestion from a Microsoft site to delete old sent file (which is now empty through no action of my own!) and create a new one.

I would be happy to do both of these things....but am CLUELESS as to how to do either.

Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Can anyone tell me how to create new sent Items folder (this has to be a top folder and files are hidden...blah blah blah....)? :badpc:

And I need to know how to delete the OLD Sent Items folder which is will not allow me to do from Outlook.

HELP WISE DIS COMMUNITY. PLEASE!!!!

I have been at it for hours and will be back about 6am.....I am thankful for any and all help I wake up to find. :flower3:

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!

Do you think you might have a virus? Have you checked? As for fixing the issues, I don't have answers for you, sorry, but Google is my friend when I need answers. I know you said you looked, but when I don't find what I am looking for I word it differently and that brings up new results.
Good luck!

I found this by googling -
Search for *.dbx files - include Hidden files & folders and with OE closed delete Outbox - it will be recreated the next time OE is opened. Test

Also possible that Sent Items is corrupt .....

Make a new folder Sent Items Old and drag all sent items into it - then delete Sent Items as above. Once OE has been restarted drag the sent Items back into Sent Items and delete the Sent Items Old folder you created. Test.

I've got a customer with the same problem.
Are ypu saying to deletes the "Sent" and "Outgoing" .dbx folders that are located where OE stores its folders?

Yes - follow the steps in my post #2, but first delete Sent Items .dbx - having copied contents to a new folder - Sent ItemsOld - and test. If the problem is not resolved repeat for Outbox.

TO SUMMARIZE -

create a new Sent items folder and call it sent items old and move your sent items into this folder, close Outlook (if sent items is empty, you can skip this step)

then do a search for files/folders using *.dbx and delete the sent items.dbx file, repeat for outbox.dbx file (this deletes the sent items and outbox folders, outlook creates new ones when restarted)

restart outlook

move items from sent items old into sent items, then you can delete sent items old folder, unless you want to keep it that way (if you didn't create it then skip this step also)

I cant help you because I use IncrediMail....it has great features and it's free...you should try it out. Just DL it and make it your default server. You can always go back to outlook express.

I have been using IM for years and so does most everyone i know. Fun smilies and e-mail pages. You will never have boring e-mails again.

Check it out!....have never had a problem with it either like i did with Outlook express.

Just a mention of something I really like.

If you want to stay with Microsoft you may want to consider Outlook over Outlook Express. It is more secure.
