We are considering going to see the Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre end of August/beg of Sept.

I would be grateful if anyone knows of a hotel nearby which has family rooms. Maybe a Holiday Inn or one of the chains would be OK. I can't do much walking as I'm still having problems with my foot, but I guess if there are no hotels within a short walking distance of the theatre, we would have to get a taxi.

Also any websites where I can get good prices. I'm wondering if it's cheaper to book the tickets separately or as a package with the hotel?

Thanks for any help and advice on this! :D

Is the Lyceum just off the Aldwych? If it is there are plenty of hotels nearby but fairly expensive ones the more reasonable ones tend to be further out. Do check out on a map before you book.

My DH and I did a theatre break last year without the kids. We only live 30minutes from Waterloo. We could have got home in the time it would have taken to get from theatre to some of the suggested hotels.

In the end we picked a more expensive one for convenience, after all we don't have time away on our own very often.

Thanks for the links Tracy and for your advice Libby :D

Why not try Priceline? I think you have a great chance of getting a bargain with them.

Thanks Vernon, but I thought that you couldn't request family rooms on Priceline? Maybe I'm wrong.

As you may have seen in my Lion King thread, I have booked Holiday Inn Bloomsbury and got a pretty good price for that, but it is only held with a credit card so can be cancelled if a better offer came up?

Maybe you can let me know what the situation is with Priceline re room request?

thanks :D

I use Priceline a lot and you're right, they only guarantee a double room. In the US I have always got a 4 bedded room but of course they are far more common there. In Europe I have usually got a double/twin bed. Vernon's right though, if you fit the criteria Priceline is best for bargains.
You got a good bargain with the Holiday Inn but if you are now not thinking of a specific location there are several other options.
Travel Inn have family rooms and they have some great locations. Here's a link http://www.travelinn.co.uk/find/search_frameset.jsp
Thistle also do some really good deals at their London Hotels especially during the summer months. They usually charge about £30 per adult and up to 2 children go free. I've used them several times. The Daily Mail had an offer a few weeks ago for the Thistle hotels.
Have a great trip. I love London. I'm planning my next trip soon.
