Kaylee, Mandy & Sue please indulge me as I know this is strictly a Tech Board matter and I have posted this there but I know there are some very clued up people on this board who might be able to help!!!

My daughter Rhiannon comes on this board fairly frequently and the DLP forum every day and loves it but since Tuesday night she hasn't been able to get on from home. (Not the same address as me obviously as I can get on ok). They have a PC and a laptop and can access every other website with no problems at all but when she tries to get on the DIS it's really slow and then comes up with:"This page cannot be displayed". She's tried using the number thingy (130.94.75.33) and tried going through a search engine but with no success although she can get on from her computer at work. Can anyone think of any reason why she can't access just this one website but has no problem with any others? She would be SO grateful for any help as she loves the DIS!!!!! Thank you.

Sorry Di, I'm not techie-minded at all. I hope someone can help Rhiannon soon :)

Di

This must be very frustrating for her, :badpc: Im not techie neither, but the other week I could not access the dis boards by using disbaords.com but could get in using the wdwinfo.com, then accessing the dis forums this way. I had to enter my user name and password again, but then I was good to go.

Dont know if that is any good, and I'm sure somebody with a bit more tech knowledge will be along soon.

Sue

Thank you Sue. She has been able to get onto wdw.info but it won't let her onto the forums from there. However I'll suggest to her that she tries logging out and in again and see if that works!!

Di, not sure if I'm much help but it might be time to clean out temporary internet files and cookies to see if that helps.

Rhiannon must be very frustrated ;)

Thank you Reid - I'll pass on your suggestion!! Yes, she is extremely exasperated as she loves "our" board so much and never misses a day. Her boyfriend works in IT but he can't work out what the problem is which is even more scary!! Maybe someone will have a brainwave! Why are computers so complicated????? :confused3

Thanks for your help - I'm back! Not sure what happened but it doesn't really matter now! :cool1:

Glad it is fixed, although disconcerting when you don't know what happened :)

Thanks Sue and Reid! It is a bit weird not knowing how it happened as it might happen again :scared1:

That last post was prophetic unfortunately as it's happened again and Rhiannon can't get on the DIS again. Any further help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Oh no :confused3 :badpc: I take it the tech board did not come up with anything either ?

Well, they do suggest clearing cookies, as you did, Reid, and she didn't do that as the problem seemed to have sorted itself so that's the next thing to do, though I think she may have tried that when the problem first arose. It's sod's law really - she can get on every other website in the world!!! :confused3

Di - has she tried going in via Internet Explorer??

Just a thought as I know my AOL won;t let me do certain things on the Dis, have to use IE instead.

Karen's last post has got me thinking of a workaround rather than a solution.
Download another browser from here and see if that allows access.
I did this while I had a problem with IE.

Thank you Karen - I know she's tried using yahoo and google - is that what you meant? (Sorry, I'm not very PC-literate as you know!!) She can get onto wdw.info but not onto the discussion forums. Thanks for your help!

Thank you very much Reid. I'll tell her about that - it looks hopeful - I appreciate your help!

I will try and explain but I am not terribly computer literate either :teeth:

When I log onto the Internet I use AOL to do that. When my connection is made, I would then go to Internet Explorer (the little blue e, do you know what I mean?) and launch that. I would then use the Internet via IE rather than browsing using AOL (though AOL still has me connected in the background).

I recommend the cookie clearing exercise described by previous posters though :)

Thank you Karen! I have a strange condition whereby my brain starts floating about in mid-air when anyone starts talking about browsers (a what??????????), ISPs, etc etc. But I am very grateful for your advice and will get Rhiannon to look at this thread when she comes over on Thursday if the problem persists!! Many thanks!
