Transfers are handled in several ways depending on the trust level involved between members. (Please remember that according to
DVC policy, no money is supposed to change hands with a transfer.)
1) Payment in full (by any agreed-upon method) in advance and then the transfer is made.
2) Payment in full immediately after the transfer is completed.
3) Payment of 50% before the transfer - followed by the balance being paid immediately after the transfer is accomplished by a 3-way call with MS.
#1 fully protects the member providing the points.
#2 fully protects the member accepting the points.
#3 places both sides at some risk.
The DIS DVC Rent/Trade Board has never had a report of a transfer where either points were not received after payment or payment was not recieved after transfer. Just be sure to use due diligence before sending any funds or transferring any points. DVC will not assist with any issue regarding transfers. They will remind the transferring member that it is a final/irreversible transaction. Most (myself included) believe that the "no compensation" policy merely emphasizes the arm's length attitude made by DVC and reinforces that they will not intervene if either side is later dissatisfied after the transfer.
