To all of my creative Dis friends, :worship:

When I signed up to help chaperone the 4th grade party for my daughter, I just thought I'd be, well, chaperoning! However, I got a letter from the teacher last week stating that those of us who signed up to chaperone actually have to plan the party. Since the party is Thursday afternoon, I am short on both ideas and time. Does anyone have any good ideas of something quick I can plan for these kids? Their party isn't very long-maybe an hour to an hour and a half, and the other 3 "chaperones" are responsible to do something also.

Thanks in advance! I'm grateful for any suggestions!

Amy

is it CHRISTMAS or a WINTER HOLIDAY PARTY?

Have different art tables set up with two crafts-Making an ornament for the tree, and maybe writing a Christmas card to your parents, or make reindeer candy canes.
Have a table of goodies-you could ask the teacher if you could send out a flier tomorrow with each student to bring home and ask the parents if they would like to contribute to the party.
If you are able to get some prizes, you could play a Christmas bingo.
Just decorate the room with red and green to make the place look festive and play some Christmas music.

It is definitely a Christmas party-our school system hasn't yet gone to the 'Winter Holiday' party thing yet-they still sing religious carols! Mommytotwo-those are good ideas! I do know that there are parents bringing food, so I'm ok in that department.

I do this great game with my sons friends. They love it!

It is called "Stuff the Santa"

You buy 2 large red union suits. You know, the one piece ones with the opening in the back. I bought mine at Sears, in the mens department.

You have about 150 red, white and green balloons of all sizes blown up.

You divided the class in to 2 groups. We did boys on one team, girls on another.

One child is picked to put on the Union suit. The goal is to get the person in the Union Suit to look like a Santa by stuffing the suit with the balloons.

It is funny watching them. The kids love it and want to do it over and over. I usually will count to see how many balloons each team stuffed into the suit. The team with the most balloons wins.

I wish I knew how to post pictures, I have some great ones with the kids in the stuffed suits. LOL too funny.

Im doing another madlib

This time its going to be The night before Christmas.

They loved the halloween one!

1. Decorate a kid as a Christmas Tree. You divide the class up in to teams of four or so. Provide tinsel and other stuff and double sided tape. Each team decorates a child as a Christmas tree.

2. Kids still love the relay where you run down and have to pop a balloon by sitting on it, then run back. When DH did that at DD's 4th grade party, a lot of the kids had never done that before.

I'll be doing my DD's 4th grade party too.

We're playing a Glove/Mitten Relay
- split class into two teams
- 1st teammate w/ mittens speed walks up to and around chair and back to start, then relays gloves/mittens to next teammate, so on and so forth
- 1st team to complete relay wins

Word Challenge
- work in original table teams
- write the words "Happy Holidays" on the blackboard
- pick a team captain to compile a written list of as many words the group can find in the phrase "Happy Holidays"
- keep in mind you can combine letters from either word and they have 5 minutes to come up with as many words as possible
- have team captain read off words and parent can display count visually on blackboard to determine winner

Bingo

Freeze dance if time remains.

Christmas Bingo. Our 4th graders played it last year and it was one of the most popular choices. The could do different activities in different rooms, and there was a line waiting to get into the Bingo room. As a matter of fact, I am doing it for my dd's 5th grade class on Friday. Got some little chocolate Santas to give as prizes for winning. Everyone else will get a Hershey kiss.

these are some great ideas! I have to have some ideas for my DD's kindergarten class, and I think I can use some of these ideas! Thanks!!!
