Fast pass + is booked and I just don't want to wait 4+ hours :) If I book an 8:20 breakfast will I be able to run and get a fastpass before the park opens?

You can't run and get a fastpass anymore. Either keep checking to see if you can get one or go straight to the ride when the park opens. You could try the early breakfast and make sure you are finished before the park opens; I don't know if they will let you get in line early or make you wait until the park is open.

My strategy would be to get to the gate at 7:30am and be toward the front of the line. I hate with a passion having to do that, but it is the best way we have had success riding brand new headliners.

You can book the 8:20am ADR and pay immediately so you can run out the door around 8:50/8:55am. However, I can't imagine it will be a 4 hour wait all day, everyday. Yesterday during my FP around 6:30pm, the standby line was at 100 minutes.

Or enter the park, skip the breakfast, sacrifice the $10.00 per head non cancellation fee and go straight to FEA. If it's worth that much to you that is. I think you would be hard pressed to finish a 8:20 breakfast and beat the rope drop crowd, but the line would probably be better than later in the day. Provided the ride doesn't go down.

If your breakfast is for Akershus, you should do alright by arriving early at the gate (no later than 7:30), so you'll be near the front of the PPO breakfast line, & will likely be allowed into Akershus earlier than 8:20. Ask for the check upon first meeting your waiter, so that won't hold you up, & accept the fact that you won't meet every princess or have time to leisurely linger over your food. Leave the restaurant at 8:45, and go straight to the Frozen ride. You should beat the rope drop throng that way.

If you don't want such a quick meal at Akershus, then you should just arrive very early for rope drop, and hightail it straight to Frozen at opening.

Is that ok to do?!

Is that ok to do?! That seems like a great plan! So I could make an 8:20 reservation and just show up for that but head to Frozen?
But remember, your credit card will be charged the no show fees.

You understood that it is $10 per person. Not sure how many are in your party.

There is a garden Grill available. Will that not work?
It should, but I haven't seen a report from anyone doing that yet. Not sure if there is a gatekeeper at Mexico allowing only Akershus people in. But at a minimum you will be way ahead of the masses.

Personally I have to wonder if sooner or later Disney is going to implement something to stop people from doing the "make an ADR and skip breakfast/ pay a small fee" action plan - they are losing money on people who would actually pay for the food/ experience. I suspect they will eventually do a morning experience that is similar to the one at MK - QS breakfast somewhere (Sunshine Seasons) and early access to Soarin' and FEA and something else (Living with the Land?) it would probably sell like hot cakes

I agree that it will likely lead to something like this. The people who ditch ressies for PPO's to line up early for rides (or stay but just order coffee...) are what led to Early Morning Magic at MK, and if this continues, I see it spreading to Epcot.

Not to mention that it keeps families who would have really eaten the breakfast from being able to make a reservation for that time. It also deprives the restaurant servers of their expected tips for that hour when people don't show up for their breakfast ressies.

There were a couple points today where the line on the app was posted at 60 minutes. I don't think if will be 5 hours by next week unless you just end up there on a really busy day.
