HELP DIS'ers !! I have everything already booked for our(3) families at POR - Alligator Bayou, Requesting Bldg 18.
Now my sister is hearing nasty things about the WDW Buses and is getting on me about it. Now she is getting a tad negative about the whole POR resort.
Any good advice and/or feedback PLEASE! :confused3
Are the buses any worse then any other resort ???!!!
We stayed at Fort Wilderness last year in a Cabin, are POR buses that much different !! THANKS

We were at POR at the end of June during a very busy time and the bus service varied from being very good to poor. With that said we wouldn't hesitate to stay there without a car. The only time we experienced poor service was on 2 seperate nights at MK. The lines were very long and we waited probably 30 mins. During the mornings it was great, we did stand on the bus sometimes but it wasn't too bad. We just hate driving when on vacation so we felt the occasional inconvenience was worth it.

If you survived the busses at Fort Wilderness, POR will seem wonderful. Only one bus not the two needed at Fort Wilderness.

I've never had problems with the busses in 4 stays at POR. Just remember you can find someone to complain about the busses at every resort.

Before I stayed at WL 2 years ago, everyone here was saying how horrible the bus service was, so I was starting to get antsy. They couldn't have been more wrong, the longest wait I had was 10 minutes for a bus, cuz I had just missed the last one.

I have never had a long wait for a bus at POR. They can be crowded, but that really depends on the time of the year and where and when you are heading.

We have stayed at POFQ and loved it. PO is a wonderful resort. We are going back again in October. PO buses are not shared with any other resort. The bus first goes to the French Quarter and then Riverside. Most of the time the service has been good; sometimes they are crowded. Once we had to wait for over 1/2 hour, but that was late one night after MVMCP, and crowds were crazy. We have stayed at YC, BC and Broadwalk....and they all share the same bus with the Swan/Dolphin resorts....we have found that to be a real nightmare on occasions. We just love not having to drive or rent a car. It also gives everyone the freedom to return to the room when they need to without relying on others. That is a big plus with us as I have a medical problem and usually have to stop before the rest of our traveling party. I just take myself off to a bus and go back to the resort. My husband never has to worry about how/when I will get there.

That's what I was thinking too! I've stayed at both places. After FW, POR transportation seemed wonderful-I went home and raved about how great it was.

Like I mentioned, my sister thinks it sounds like a nightmare after she read how to take the bus to Typhoon/Blizzard water parks, too......it can't be that bad.
POR sounds really nice and she just doesn't seemed impressed with what she is reading on the web sites......I think it looks fantastic for a Moderate resort !! :fish: :flower1:

We stayed at POFQ last November,we didn't have much of problem with buses but we were close to the main stop. Both the POFQ and POFR share the bus service. After picking us up there were about 4 stops at POR. On a busy day it might be hard to find space if you are on the last stop before heading to parks.

we stayed at POR last Sept. and we never had a problem with the busses. We used the bus stop near our building and at times the main stop. Sometimes we had to wait a few minutes but that was no problem. the busses were fine coming back from the parks as well.

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside in the Magnolia Bend section last March Break (just before Easter) and probably the busiest time of year and the bus service was excellent. The longest wait was 10-15 min and this was immediately following the parade at MK. We were on the third bus - yes three arrived within 15 min.! Every other time was at most 5 min.. I absolutely loved the resort and our room allowed us to pick up buses from outisde the lobby or directly behind our building - both very close.

try to get a room so that you will be near the main bus stop. It makes a big difference. Bus service is in general good, but when it gets crowded in the early morning, the later bus stops get skipped some times. I stayed there once and thought the bus service was horrible in the morning until i figured out the bus kept getting full at the main stop and skipped the back stops. They say another comes and gets you if they do that, but that didn't happen in my case. Once I started going to the first stop, the bus service was great. I stay at POFQ now for this reason- it is always the first stop and you almost always get a seat in the morning. I fyou check posts alot of the people complaining about the service were at the later stops and the ones praising the service were at the main stop.
