Ask me anything about WDW and I know or can find the info for ya's but IOA...haven't a clue!!!

I desperately need some info quickly as our spur of the moment to WDW trip this coming weekend has turned into a day at IOA too.

I am sooooooooo excited about visiting this park but I haven' the foggiest how to go about getting the best time out of one day at IOA...can you experts over here help me?!?!?!?:D

We're going Fri.May7

Park Hours...9am to 8pm

Party of 4... all coaster/thrill ride junkies...Me...DHJoe..friend Lee...DS Erich tall enough for everything now!

What should we see do first...not miss...etc.etc etc!!!

HEEELLLLLLLLLP!!!!!

TY in advance!

Alicia, I am so excited for you and wish I were going to be there then!! How exciting to have a last minute trip planned!! :)

I am new myself to the IOA/USO board, so I can't help you out much, but there are experts on this board who can! :) I do hope you have a wonderful time!! :):)

Get there early and go to Hulk and ride it. Then get an express pass for Hulk and come back later. Then go to Spiderman and ride that. I'm partial to Dueling Dragons and you said you're coaster freaks. Even though it's at the other side of the park, I would go there next when you could still ride in the front of each dragon (you MUST try the front seat) without much wait. The park isn't that big so it's easy to go back and forth.

Here are my must do's at IOA:

Hulk

Amazing Spiderman

Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges (ride near end of day as you will get wet and may get soaked!)

Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls ( I am bias since I am Canadian)

Jurrasic Park River Adventure

Dueling Dragons

Eighth Voyage of Sinbad

Poseidon's Fury - a touch corny but great queue area

The Cat in the Hat

Have a great time!

Thanks

One big tip: Try everything. Even if it looks lame, or its a water ride, give it a try, you never know!

With that, here is my plan.

Get to gate around 8:35, they usually openm gates at 8:45 (usually at least)

Hit Hulk First. Repeat if desired.

Spider-man Time!

Now, hit Dr. Doom.

Now, after these 3 rides head over to....... Seuss Landing! Thats right, Seuss Landing

Ride 1 Fish, 2 Fish, much more fun than Dumbo!

Now, ride Cat in the Hat.

Head over to Lost Continent, and grab express for Poseidon's Fury.

Now ride both sides of Dueling Dragons, Fire and Ice.

Next, ride Flying Unicorn.

Now, skip past JP and go into Toon Lagoon, ride Dudley Do Right

Now, Ride Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges.

Go back to JP, ride JP River Adventure.

Now, go see Poseidon with your Express pass.

Now, use the rest of the time reriding your favorites, and riding Caro-Seuss-al, and Storm Force Accelatron.

Slacking's plans look perfect. For lunch I would suggest Oak Tree Tavern. Their BBQ ribs and corn on the cob are wonderful. It is just across from Dueling Dragons and fairly close to Posiden. You don't need reservations. It is a cheap, quick, and tasty meal. They have other things besides ribs like chicken and hamburgers also.

I really appreciate all this help.:)

As far as IOA size wise which Disney park does it compare to in size?

I most definitely want to do Dueling Dragons,I've heard the que is amazing!

A big YES on visiting Seuss Landing as Dr Seuss and friends have been my buddies for years!

Any Horton Hears a Who attractions/stuff there?

Beans I SO WISH we were going to be there together...one day!!!:D

Joe and I have been checking out the Margaritaville menu.Joe is a Parrothead and beings Thur is Joe's birthday and we're going to be right there by Jimmy's place on Friday night we're going there to celebrate his birthday! :drinking1 Making PS tomorrow since it's a Friday night.

Well I'm going to go ck out some more IOA websites.

Thnks y'all for the help...I knew Barry's people wouldn't let me down!!!

:sunny:

Great tip phamton.

I'm always rush rush rush ride ride ride, that I hardly ever stop to eat (looking at me you'd never guess that, lol!)

Burger Digs is also pretty good.

I think it compares in size to Animal Kingdom. Of course, Animal Kingdom has more land but for walking it is about the same. It takes about the same amount of time to walk around AK as it does to walk around IoA.

I found IOA to be a fairly quick walk at least mentally - probably because it is one large circle and as such is a direct walk from attraction to attraction unless you want to double back

In terms of size, I would think FW (Epcot) and about half of WS (Epcot) together = IOA

Hope you have a great trip!

thanks

Yes. In the deep reaches of the Caro-Suess-el queue, you'll find signs that refer to various Dr. Seuss books. Horton Hears a Who is one of them, but it's pretty far back. If you get "lost" in the queue there, you'll be able to fnd it. ;)

Also there's a very overlooked spot outside of Cats, Hats, and Things. There's a large egg that can be sat on, as it refers back to Horton Hatches an Egg. When you exit CITH, take the left exit, not the main one, and you will find the egg.

All the other replys by Gersmerl and Slacking are right on.
The parking garage opens at 8am. Cars will be waiting there at 07:45am. Be there early. You'll be excited walking thru City Walk, hearing the music play, I love getting there early. Get to the gate and be first in line. When the gates open, walk quickly to Hulk and get a front seat ride. There is nothing like a front seat ride on Hulk to start your morning with the water mist as you pass thru the tunnel. Ride again in the back. Get an express pass for Hulk for noon, the machines are near the entrance of the queue. Then go on Spiderman, Dr. Doom, and then hi tail it to the other side of the park for Dueling Dragons. Ride both coasters in the front, even if you have to wait. Then you can continue counter clockwise to JRPA doing the water rides.
If you arrive early, you can see most major attractions by noon, then go to lunch and relax. The crowd hits at 11am and the place gets packed. A long lunch at Mythos is a good idea. Ask for a window seat so you can watch Hulk running. Now you can take it easy and go see the Sinbad show and do Posidens Fury.
Happy hour at most bars starts around 3pm.
