I'm so proud of my mom, she's been working out at at a fitness center for over six months and is doing just great, but with the change in the weather, she's not always able to get there. I'd like to get her a really good, motivating fitness DVD for Xmas, and need suggestions. She's late 50s, a bad back, but otherwise healthy, so I'd probably want to stick with low impact, I assume, for her. At the center, she does water aerobics, loves the elliptical, lifts weights, etc. Help me, oh you healthy people:worship:

TIA!
Terri

Bumping up for today's crowd, does nobody work out at home anymore? Do I have to go on Ebay and buy her a Jane Fonda videotape;) ?

(Now I"m going to have Olivia Newton-John singing, "Let's Get Physical" running through my head all day, thank you very much!)

TIA!
Terri

I like Pilates. It's low impact and is a good compliment to aerobics.
The Winsor Pilates DVDs are very good. I've got a lot of them. The winsorpilates official website is not very nice ("Loose inches now!!!!), but the DVDs are actually very nice. They show modifications for people with back or knee problems. If you do a search on youtube.com, some people have posted Winsor Pilates video, so you can check it out.
If you do a google search for winsor +pilates, you can find other places to buy the DVDs (like Amazon).

I really like the Walk Away the Pounds sets. Although, it's more than just walking, I promise :lmao: A set of 3-5 pound weights would be helpful as well.

I was just going to recommend these!
I am extremely uncooridinated. All the other workouts were just irritating me lol. I got some of Leslie Sansone's DVDs and broke through my plateau. They aer really easy to follow, really low impact and you feel it after. I use 2lb weights with it. Leslie is great!:thumbsup2

I would also suggest Walk Away The Pounds.

I also enjoy the Crunch pilates videos with Ellen Barrett.

The Biggest Loser DVDs might also be good. They offer modifications if necessary.

I suggest checking out www.collagevideo.com You can see clipss of all the DVDs they have and try to figure out if it will work for your mom before you buy.

Does she like Dancing with the Stars?

I bought their first DVD and it was alright didn't thrill me, but the second one was much easier and alot more fun!!

Easy to do and also you get to watch Maks swivel his hips and smile...What more could you ask for....( I would prefer Derek haha but Maks will do!)

I like DWTS, and I love to dance. I've been thinking about getting an exercise video of some sort. Is the one you like called DWTS 2, or does it have a different name. Also, where did you find it? Thanks!

I opened this thread hoping someone would have posted about the DWTS videos, I have seen one at Target with Max, Kim and Ashley on the cover. Is that the first one or the second one? I thought this sounded like a video I would like but I didnt want to buy one without someone else's opinion first.

Thanks, everyone. She walks the dog during the decent weather months, so the Walk Away the Pounds might be good for her. I'll check out the Pilates ones, too. Excellent idea about the place to see clips of many of them, I hate when I buy one and it's totally useless....

Thanks again!
Terri
