Help you guys from Atlantic Canada. I am trying to find airline tickets for my daughter who lives near Fredericton (Oromocto) for December. Is there anywhere else besides Halifax, Fredericton or Moncton that you can fly from. I'm thinking somewhere in the US and then maybe they can get a non-stop flight. The Canadian Airports seem to fly you to Montreal or Toronto and then on to Orlando. I know they would much rather have a non-stop flight. If they have to drive 4 hours to Halifax then I was thinking they could drive into the US but I need someone with more experience in this to guide me here. Also money is an issue. I've checked on Sidestep several times but not coming up with great stuff because I'm not sure which cities to originate from. They will be going 1 way, then driving with us back to Ontario for Christmas and then flying from Toronto back home after Christmas. I appreciate all advise - thanks. Barb

Hi,

Why don't you try Bangor Maine. I don't think the drive would be any longer than going to Halifax NS. You may get a direct flight. Never done it before, but I know some people who've flown out from there to go to Florida.

Make sure you check all of the airlines.... some fly direct to the US with stops in either Boston, Newark or St. Petersburg. Just play around with departure cities.... you never know what you'll find!

who've done the Halifax Boston Orlando route on Delta...then there's the Halifax New York Orlando route with Continental.

We've looked at the Bangor idea, but haven't found that it was going to be that much of a difference price wise.

I'd keep checking though:)

Don't forget, too, that the charters, ie CanJet and WestJet will release their fares for that time period soon, if they haven't already...one of them flies DIRECT from Moncton and Halifax during the winter months...CanJet???

HTH!

Hi Barb

I am from Fredericton, and have flown quite a few times both out of the US and Fredericton.

IF money is an issue, you have a few options. Bangor, Maine is about 3hours away, and if you check out expedia.ca, you can usually get a good deal on airfare. (There are not too many, if any, direct flights to florida)

Where you only need one way, and on the main airlines, you are better off with a roundtrip ticket, it is always more for a one way, I would look at Southwest airlines.

Out of Manchester, NH (about a 6-7hr) drive, you can fly southwest, which is very cheap, and offers one way fares (I have heard as low as 49-79 one way to florida)

Fredericton has delta and air canada, but tends to be expensive. You can also check expedia.ca for those fares also.

anyway, hope this helps some.....if you have any other questions, you can pm me.
