Help, my WDW invoice increased after I bought airfare!

I had a credit with airtran after I had to cancel my last trip to WDW. I booked a trip to WDW online, and last night we called to use our Air Tran credit. After the change fees, we owed $598, which we paid with our bank card (the total was 806.80 before the credit, which the travel agent verified).

Before adding airfare, this was our invoice:
Total $ 3863.90
Insurance $ 0.00
Grand Total $ 3863.90
Deposit (USD) paid on 08/28/2011 $ -$200.00
Balance (USD) due on 02/13/2012 $ 3663.90

After adding airfare, and paying for it completely, this is our invoice:

Total $ 4823.70
Insurance $ 0.00
Grand Total $ 4823.70
Deposit (USD) paid on 08/28/2011 $ -$200.00
Payment (USD) paid on 08/28/2011 $ -$598.00
Balance (USD) due on 02/13/2012 $ 4022.70

Why did my total increase by more than the amount of the airfare? Why do I now owe around $350 MORE than before I paid for my airfare?!! I feel so frustrated right now, like I've been had.

So, the airfare was supposed to cost an additional $598, which you had already paid with your card? Leaving an extra $361 you weren't expecting... Am I right?

My thought is that perhaps the cost of the airline tickets went up when they were actually booked? Perhaps they treated it as purchasing new tickets and just crediting you back the $598?

In either case, I'd get on the phone with your travel agent ASAP. Good luck!

The airfare was $806.80. After they applied our AirTran credit, it cost us $598, which we paid on the spot. I checked the airfare today, and the cost is still the same, no changes from Airtran. But my WDW invoice increased from 3863.90 to 4823.70, a difference of 959.80 - MORE than the airfare we added. Seems very fish! Plus now we owe so much more than before! I'll be calling once my husband gets home so he can help me figure this out, too. Usually WDW invoices make perfect sense to me, but this time I feel duped.

Did you book the airfare through Disney? If you didn't, the increase in your invoice has nothing to do with your airfare.

Yes, I booked the airfare through Disney. I added it on to my already booked vacation package. The only change I made was adding airfare, but the totals don't make sense at all.

I wouldn't wait for your DH to help you understand it - call the TA. This is one of the things you use a TA to resolve. If they can't explain it somehow, they will call Disney and work it out.

The total difference is $398
$3863.90 vacation + $806.80 airfare = $4670.70
$4670.70 - $200 deposit = $4470.70
$4470.70 - $208.80 AirTran credit = $4261.90
$4261.90 - $3863.90 original cost = $398

Does WDWTC charge to book air tickets? Even if they do, that's a BIG difference.

Another question is does that $806 airfare include all applicable flight taxes and fees?

Personally i'm also in the camp of calling the TA and trying to get a breakdown of the costs and where that extra $$$ came from. If you can get an itemized before/after a stare and compare could help you figure out which segment of the trip the mystery costs came from (Hotel, tickets, car, airfare, taxes, insurance, DDP....etc etc).

Well, it all worked out in the end. They just have an odd way of showing things. My balance due is still too high, but they said a credit should appear soon. The higher cost reflects the airfare I added, plus the change fee. Then they'll take off the down payment we made, the airfare, and our airfare credit. We will owe exactly what we owed before. I wish they could have sent me a detailed invoice because then I never would have freaked out. I can't wait for my real balance to show up online because then I'll really feel like they got it right.

Thanks for all the input and help. This was so confusing!
