Help, my new carpet is shedding!

We just got new carpet in our living rooms and bedrooms, and its shedding! Big fluffs of carpet are all over the place, no matter how much I vacuum I can't seem to get it all up. I called the installers and they said shedding is normal with new carpet.

Does anyone have any experience with this happening with new carpet? This is the first time we have had this done and we did not choose the cheap carpet (and not the most expensive either, somewhere in the high middle range).

Mine is doing the same thing!!! Tons and tons of fuzz. Between the cat hair, dog hair, and carpet fuzz, I don't have dust bunnies sneaking around I have dust yettis.

It is getting better though, after a couple of months...

This is very normal.

I have a rug I bought from Crate and Barrel almost two years ago that's still shedding. DS vacuums it almost everyday and has to dump the cup on the vacuum each time--and it's an 8x10 rug--so not huge by any means!

At least DS is the "vacuumer" in our house--he actually doesn't mind doing it LOL!

It happend to us in our old house. We installed the high pile carpet a few months before putting it on the market. It lost clumps all over the place and then quit after the 5 or 6th time we vacuumed.

Yep. Totally normal. And totally annoying.

We had some new carpet installed in September. Just be sure your vaccuum has lots of suction and that you change the bag regularly. Beyond that, it's a waiting game.
