We are going to Canada next week and have several questions?
We have two small kids.

How is the weather? Light jacket or a heavy coat?

Do you recommend to take travelers checks? Is US currency generally accepted? How about Credit Cards (MC / Visa / Amex)?

How long it is to go (by car) from Montreal to Niagara Falls?

We are staying for five days, please advised on places to visit... I understand there is a Disney Store? Where?

Thank you for your help...

The weather depends on where you are going. Canada is quite large and I suspect you are not travelling the whole country. I notice that you are planning a trip to Montreal. At this time in the year, the weather can change with no notice. It can be beautiful one day, and the next it can be quite cold.
Canada does accept US currency pretty much everywhere you go, and yes, we do accept all forms of credit cards (some places do not take Discover though).
The trip to Niagara falls from Montreal may be a long drive (I don't know the exact time) because they are in different provinces, therefore, it would probably not be like a day trip.
There are Disney stores located throughout the entire country, knowing where you are vacationing may help to let you know where one is located. That is the same for hotels, too.
Anyways, a little more information may help us to help you!
Hope your planning goes well.

Hi ~ WELCOME!

Weather = cool (if you can bring a light and heavy coat you'll be set)

Montreal to Niagara Falls = 7-8 hours by car. Good and easy drive ~ all highways. Worth the trip.

Currency and Credit cards = accepts everything. You might consider getting some CDN funds at any bank while here.

Disney Stores = Just website for location. Usually in the bigger Shopping Malls.

ENJOY, S

Thanks for the quick replies....

We will be staying at Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth at 900 Rene-levesque Bldv W, Montreal, QC.

Is there a train trip to the Niagara Falls?

Thanks again,

You can catch a train from Montreal to Toronto and then another train to Niagara Falls. The VIA Rail website at http://www.viarail.ca/en_index.html will help answer your questions for the train. The train journey from Montreal to Niagara Falls will take nearly 8 hours, one way. It is obviously not a day trip sort of thing.
As for using American currency here -- yes, you'll find it accepted in many places, but do everybody (including yourselves) a big favour and do most of your spending in Canadian funds. The exchange rate you receive at stores will be most unfavourable -- if they give you exchange at all. (I have been in stores in the Montreal area in which friends shopping with US$ received the exchange rate of 1:1)
