Destination X

Didn't watch. Previews seemed like NBC's version of Survivor but in some unknown location. I still don't get the popularity of that other show when it seems like the same thing each time. That all start out as friends but plot/scheme behind each other's back how to vote someone else out they think is a rival.

Yes, watched it. It is interesting. I'm sure I will keep watching as there is not much out there for new shows now. I did think it was neat that the contestants were able to actually go out and see the area they were in at the end.

It is somewhat similar to a show my husband and I watch on the streaming platform Nebula. That one is called Jet Lag.

We enjoyed the first episode but admit that some of our interest is to see if some of the places are ones we have been to lol.

I still can't figure out why you have such strong feelings for that show when you don't watch it but somehow Survivor really gets you going, you always say you don't get it, that you don't watch it but then somehow know it's the same each time and it affects you greatly enough to always talk about it/reference it.

All reality or competition shows have people who get along and those who don't, strategies and the like, I could name a slew of them across a variety of networks and streaming platforms.

I was wondering how they would handle the blackout concept mentioned in the trailer. Like how far would they go with that.

I did feel bad for the shop owner in the first episode where they were searching around and made a huge mess, I think that could be handled better. If they are going to have the players get out there in the actual places they should probably have it more set up like Amazing Race where the places are staged for the players to get in there nitty gritty but at least while I was watching that it didn't seem they had done that at least for that specific shop

I'm sure they either had show staffers clean up and/or paid the shop keeper well for the inconvenience

The OP asked for our opinion and that is what I am offering. Too bad if some don't like when others post an opinion that doesn't match their view of something..................LOL.

We watched the first episode last night but we weren't impressed. The tried to make it dramatic and suspenseful but it fell flat in our opinion. Don't think we'll be watching anymore.

Watched the first half. Eh, it was ok. Did they ever announce where they were or does it continue into the next week/episode?

I mean, wouldn't looking a street signs, building signs, etc give you a pretty decent clue?

They were in Rome. They go somewhere different next week.
Watched the whole episode, not impressed at all. Off my watch list.

It's because you constantly talk about it, you'll go into the newest Survivor season thread just about every time and talk about it almost verbatim each time and everyone notices that. So coming onto this thread to make another comparison to a show you supposedly don't get, don't watch and don't like okay probably going to get noticed.

Not the way they did it. At the end of the episode is where they reveal the actual place but beforehand you're not actually in that specific location.

The first challenge was X many miles away from Rome, the second challenge was Y many miles away from Rome but closer than the first challenge and they were supposed to use the clues from those challenges to be able to pinpoint their actual destination.

So if they keep that format it's basically challenge is held in this location which gives you clues to the ultimate destination location of that episode.

I think this is a summer specific show meaning it's not intended to be of high caliber television but to fill a network's schedule during the slower summer season. Quiz with Balls is another one, Lego Masters aired season 2 and this newest season (5) in the summer time, American Ninja Warrior has generally followed the summer season. So I guess my expectations were it was just a filler show, obviously if it's boring a few episodes in easily skipped and easily forgotten about.
