it's just a basic cornbread dressing kind - using bread,cornbread,celery,onions & broth.

It looks right - the right consitancy but I've tasted it and there's just NO flavor at all - what can I add? more chicken broth or just salt&pepper? What will bring out the flavor? ---no fancy suggestions - 'cause I don't have any fancy ingreds,,,

Along with the ingredients you mentioned, I always add a stick of melted butter and a palmful of poultry seasoning.

Bell's Poultry Seasoning!! :thumbsup2

Bell's is good stuff, I haven't seen it in years they don't seem to carry it in TN:sad2:
You could try reducing by about half(boiling to concentrate the flavor) some chicken stock and adding that too.

You add a stick of melted butter to ANYTHING and you can't go wrong!! :thumbsup2

I would not do the Lawry's... you want sage, thyme, rosemary, marjoram, oregano, ginger and pepper (that's what's in Bells)... ginger... whoda thunk it??

Celery salt always makes mashed potatoes POP when we need something extra added to it. That might be worth a try.

My MIL makes the best stuffing. Here is her recipe (handed down from her MIL).

1 1/4 loaves of white bread
medium onion
3/4 cup celery
sprinkles with onion salt
pepper
heaping teaspoon of poultry seasoning
3 eggs mixed with like 2 tablespoons of milk
3/4 stick butter

if it's too dry, add water

She says to double for a turkey, but I never double and it seems to be the perfect amount for a turkey (I'm not buying 22 pound turkeys though). She also always has extra and bakes that in the over by itself. I don't care for that, if it's not in the bird, I don't want it.

I've never had turkey with corn bread. That sounds interesting.

Poultry seasoning. I agree. I can't imagine dressing/stuffing without it. That's what makes it taste like Thanksgiving.:confused3 Without it - it would be blah.

I would add some cream of chicken soup and more salt and pepper as well as maybe a little melted butter.

Sage and butter. Never, ever, forget the sage....I'm from Mississippi....that's like a sin.

Some sage, a tablespoon or so of poultry seasoning, salt and pepper. But the poultry seasoning is a MUST!

Try adding a bell pepper and some garlic. Then salt pepper and paprika . I'm not wild about sage.

bell pepper, onion, celery, and poultry seasoning:thumbsup2
