I cannot imagine how heavy your heart must be with sadness right now. I think the trip would be good for you and your family but I understand the thought of it without him is too much to bear.

Just remember that whatever choice you make is the right one for you and don't let others push you in one way or another. Dealing with alot of death in my life, no one can tell you what your gonna feel or what you should do. Do whatever you feel is right and its none of anyone else's business.

I am so sorry. My dad died suddenly when I was 12 of a heart attack. It was 3 months before their 25th wedding anniversary. I was supposed to go Girl Scout camp 2 weeks after his death. My mother sent me. I went, had many, many moments of sadness and crying--but also have some good memories of camp. You know your children best. There is no "wrong" answer. May God grant you peace.

As for the trip. Can you discuss it with your parents & in laws? Get every ones feelings. How are your kids doing, this must be excruciatingly hard on them also. Can you guys pospone it a few months without totally cancelling. May give you more time to get a handle on things.

whatever you decide please take the time & surround yourself with the love of your family.

I agree that you should postpone it. Don't cancel it but wait. In a few months it might be a good thing to bring everyone together after this tragic event.

I'm really sorry. My SIL's father died unexpectedly in June. I have known my SIL and her family for nearly 30 yrs. Her parents had been married for nearly 41 yrs when he passed away. It's been really hard on all of them but each day gets a little easier.
