My wife called 800-******** and tried to renew our annual passes. She was told no because we weren't within the 30 day experation period with is in October. She read on these boards yesterday that people were renewing AP before the price increase. Please help. How do we go about renewing our APs?

Have you tried to renew using the passholder website which is disneyworld.com/passholder ?

Get another CM. There shouldn't be a problem. I renewed earlier in July for a September date. I told the CM at MS that I wanted to buy them while I had the money. We got the vouchers without any problem.

Sorry, I've never heard of them renewing more than 30 days before the expiration. I think the only way to beat a price increase would be to buy a new AP. Not sure it would much of a cost savings since renewals are cheaper than new passes :confused3

there are instructions within the "rumored price increase" thread. The instruction post numbers are in the title of the thread. I can't remember if it is in this section or the misc section though.

Exactly. I have 4 vouchers to renew the next two years for DH and me. Just bought all 4 this week. I believe the limit is 6 per person.

Buy them as brand new. You will save about $7.00 per ticket.

The new AP before increase plus tax is 370.62

The renewal with the 21.00 increase plus tax is 377.62

before tax the increases are

new = 448
renewal = 408

The increase is 21

I just renewed at $315 plus tax. You're saying the $315 DVC renewal cost jumped to $408??:confused3

I just renewed mine yesterday. You HAVE to renew through the AP passholder website. Once you log in it will recognize that you have a DVC AP. It was quick and easy. This is AUGUST and my pass expires the end of October. Not a problem at all. I did this exact thing last year and had no problem turning in the voucher when it was time. I had heard that folks have a hard time doing it over the phone when you are beyond the 30 days. Go to the Disney website and click on passholder in the right hand upper area. I used my rewards points and cc to do mine (as we've done in the past). I applied 200 reward points, so my AP cost me $135 on my cc. A sweet deal.

This is really hard to do...

I'm on my fourth phone call (and have tried the website several times, too)...the CM I'm talking to now (I'm on hold) seems to know that we can do this (buy a voucher now, at today's prices, to activate renewal at our APs expiration (in our case, November)...

I guess I'll find out when she comes back to the phone whether we can really do this or not!

OK, she's back...yes, we can renew our APs at today's prices...but the $33 renewal discount applies only 30 days prior up thru 30 days past the AP expiration date...so if we renew today we lose the renewal discount--

Here's the info the CM gave me:

Today(8/2), the DVC member renewal price (which includes a $33 discount) for a park hopper AP is $315. Tomorrow (8/3), the price will be $324. A new AP is $348 today (8/2) and will be $369 tomorrow (8/3).

(These numbers don't match the prices listed on this thread--I presume because they don't include taxes?)

So...w/an expy date in November, for us it is less expensive to wait for our normal renewal window (Oct-Dec)...

Of course, this is the 4th different story I've gotten from MS...but it's the most specific and detailed to date...hope this helps folks...

Thank you, n2mm, for the tip to start with the passholders "button" at the upper right of disneyworld.com! That did the trick for me--I'd been starting w/a "search" for AP renewal and had gotten absolutely nowhere w/that starting point!

I just renewed our two park-hopper APs that don't expire til November. The site said that "for the convenience of passholders" you can renew 30 days prior to expiration...but it did take my renewal info/instructions/order just fine, even though our APs don't expire until November..

Since we're going to WDW next week (just 3 days til departure...are we excited!), I arranged to pick our vouchers up at will call...

The price was $335.48 ($315 plus tax) for each of two adult park hopper AP renewals...

It was a little (ok a lot) tricky figuring out which numbers to enter in which screen...took me five or six tries before I got it right...but ultimately I did...

It's a very confusing process that seems very easy once you get it figured out...but the figuring it out part is really hard, and the CMs, at both Disney Travel and MS, aren't much help...I wound up with a total 4 totally different "stories" after each of four calls!

Nothing worked til the tip from n2mm--n2mm, you're our hero/heroine!!! The grand prize gold star goes to n2mm (THANK YOU!) for posting the tip that broke thru my "dunce-ness" in figuring out how to do this...was it worth it for what will be $18 for me? (If the info from the last MS CM I talked to is accurate, the price increase for a DVC member renewal is $9 per park hopper pass)...don't know...but Im awfully pleased to have saved the $18 nevertheless!

Thanks again n2mm...

I got mine AP renewals this week through MS. Our passes don't expire until December.

The trick was I was not asked me when they expired. (the first MS CM I spoke too asked and I was told the 30 day story too) I had no problem getting them at this point but they would not send me a voucher. I have to pick them up at will call. I did ask her if will call would give me a voucher at will call and she said 'yes'.

Not sure if this is going to work but it was worth the try.

Hey that's $18 plus tax you saved!:banana:

I did ours online last night also. ($315 plus tax) and ours do not expire until November.

Inconsistency has long been a characteristic of MS. If at first you don't succeed, just keep calling back until you reach a MS rep who can solve the problem.

I reordered mine, which doesn't expire until next May, a couple of days ago through the passholder website with the renewal discount. I don't know where it's coming from that you have to wait until 30 days before expiration. :confused3

Well thanks. Glad I helped someone this week! I see we saved $9 plus tax. I'll use that money to treat myself to a Margarita!!
