Hi folks,
Need some help. We will be in Forida from Aug 7 thru Aug 22. We fly in and out of Orlando. Split stays at AKC, Vero and BW. Vero is on the middle of our stay so we can fly in and out of Orlando.

The problem is that I have to fly home for work for two days. I need to fly home to Phila on Aug 16 and return to Vero on the Aug 18. Problem is that my family will be at Vero.

So, should I fly out and into Orlando's airport or should I try to fly out and into Melbourne's airport for my trip home for work? I am used to using the Orlando airport. I have no clue what airlines fly out of Melbourne.

Also, where would it be easier for my family to get me from? Orlando or Melbourne. They will have a rental car. Also, would I be able to get a non stop flight at Melbourne.

Please, give suggestions.

I was just checking into flying in regards to a Vero Beach stay. Melbourne is 60 miles closer than Orlando, so approximately an hours less drive time each way. I know that for us Delta is the only airline that we could use out of Melbourne.

Hope this helps...

Currently, all domestic flights in and out of Melbourne are on Delta via Atlanta. Jet America will start flying out of Melbourne on July 14th, but not to Philly.

Thanks, just checked Delta. Yeah, will have to have stops.

What if I flew in and out of Orlando. Could I get a car service to Vero so I won't have to bother my family to get me to and from the airport?

Anyone done this? What car service should I use?

Looking at Orbitz, I agree, getting from Melbourne to PHL requires a transfer in ATL.

Another option: West Palm Beach (PBI). It is 11 miles closer to Vero than MCO. US Air, United, and Southwest have non-stops between PBI and PHL.

Thanks, I checked West Palm Beach but I could not get an evening flight. I booked out of Orlando but now I want to get a shuttle service from Vero to Orlando.

Does anyone know of a good shuttle service?

Your options would obviously be much greater from MCO than Melbourne. Other options are West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, or Miami.

MIA has lots of non-stops to PHL, but it's further away and the driving from MIA is an issue, especially if you're not familiar with Miami.

I'd call VB and ask them what shuttle services seem popular with folks.

Another thought: Rent a car at VB, park it at MCO, then return it to VB.

American has some non-stops MIA-PHL, including a night flight on 8/16.

Departing MIA 8:40 PM on the 16th, arriving PHL at 11:24 PM.

Returning departing PHL 11:05 AM on the 18th, arriving MIA at 2:06 PM

Total fare, including tax $275.20.

There are several other options, but those seemed to be the closest to the time schedule you are looking for. Those prices were for coach super-saver. There might be more options for higher fares.

The other option might be to juggle your stays so you are somewhere in WDW on 8/16-8/18. If you could do that, your traveling back to work should be much less complicated.

Call the front desk at VB. Last year I had a car service pick up my 2 neices 14 and 15 and bring them to the resort. I forget the name exactly (Triple Diamond or something) but the were FANTASTIC. They called back when I left a message immediately, checked the ressie the day before and the same day and were on time. The girls said the driver was great and the car was very nice.

BTW the CM at the front desk said that this was the only one the recommended. They were out of Melbourne I think.!!!! I want to say 1 way was $120 including tip.

Hope that helps!!

My dd went to college in Melbourne but often flew home for breaks via Orlando due to non-stop flights. When she flew out of Melbourne via Delta, they used to like to change her flight times frequently. One time she had an 9 am flight and they put her on a 6 am flight. I didn't like her walking across campus at 4:30 am to catch the shuttle to the airport. She was alone. So we stopped using Delta.

Shuttles I used for her that I would recommend were :
A Busy Traveler

Executive Shuttle

Both provided on time service. Price, from Orlando airport to FL Tech in Melbourne and back was approximately $150. You could rent a car much cheaper---she couldn't because of her age (18).

Hi,

Thanks for sharing the information.

It is better if you go to melbourne after finishing your work at your home place. Since your family have rental car you people can meet at melbourne which is closer as compared when compared to orlando.
