O.K., so I'm thinking of trying DL for the first time next summer. We usually go to WDW every summer for 6-8 nights. I've been told you can do DL in a few days. How many would you say? I was thinking 4 days DL and then possibly Universal for 4 days. How far apart are the 2 parks? Is there something else by DL you would recommend doing/staying?
Thanks,

Hi Lesley,

We have two boys, ages 3 and 4. I can't imagine any more than 4 nights for us. That seems to be the right amount of time. If our boys could get on more of the height restricted rides, we might be able to do one more night, but that's about it.

I can't help you with the other part of your question. sorry!! Hope you enjoy DL.

4 days at Disneyland is just enough, 5 days is better if you want to relax.
Universal in Hollywood is not like the one in Orlando. It is a one day park and movie studio. The one in Orlando feel more like a theme parks. The one in Hollywood has some history to it and is much more interesting as fars as movies go but it is less fun as a theme park and rides go.

There's no way you could spend 4 days at USH--it's definetely a 1 day place. There is not enough to do there to fill 2 full days much less 4. But S CA has a few other nice theme parks, with some good kiddie stuff.

4 days at DL should be plenty. One full day is enough for Universal, it is about an hour or more from Disneyland (north). Other activities would depend on if you have kids and their ages. Younger kids (under 10) like Legoland, about an hour and a half south of DL. Knotts might be another choice; I don't care for it but it has a few huge roller coasters and an area for younger kids, plus a separate water park. It is about 15 minutes from DL. You could spend a couple of days in San Diego, a couple hours south of DL, and see the zoo, wild animal park, or SeaWorld, or spend a day at the beach.

Oh absolutely do not plan on visiting Universal for more than one day....my family went in during the summer and finished everything (almost) by 6 o'clock. I think we may have passed up one ride that was a duplicate of Florida.

Many other fun places to go to....
