Hi,
DH and I had a phenomenal magical evening with our family last year at R&C. So I let DH choose our EPCOT dinner and he chose R&C. Now I'm reading the new dinner menu on allears.net and they have no more lamb and barley soup OR cottage pie. They are still listed on Deb's lunch menu, but that one hasn't been updated. Does anyone know if these are gone from lunch as well? Should I switch to lunch, switch to another restaurant, or stick with the plan. UGH!
What's the point in 180 ADRs if they are going to dumb down the menu after it's getting too late to make changes. We're going on Dec. Did I mention that I HATE the DDP and what it has done to WDW food? The food had improved tremendously over the last number of years, and since DDP has become popular we're quickly changing our opinions on that.
Sorry for the tangent. Thanks.

I hope you get an answer to your questions. I too was wondering what was up with their menu. We love eating there every year, but have been noticing they've drastically cut their menu - especially the kids'. It would be nice to hear from someone who has actually eaten there this past month to give us the scoop.:confused3

Someone on another thread mentioned a server saying they were having problems with a supplier when she asked about the lamb & barley soup. That would be a plausable explanation for the latest round of changes, which eliminated all of the lamb dishes from the menu - the soup, the cottage pie, and the lamb shank.

That was me......

But they'd also provided me with the recipe during my visit last December- so I really am of the opinion that the menu has been 'dumbed down' for the DDP.

Wait until next year when the DDP gets changed. I'm sure that the appetizer sections of the menus all over WDW will be improving radically!

The Guiness stew was pretty yummy. Luckily there are tons of options in Epcot because R&C does not appeal to me anymore.

I really don't buy the DDP changes theory. Heck, they *added* crab legs at Coral Reef just before the free diners started arriving. But I suppose 2008 will tell the tale - the dining plan isn't such a huge bargain, so there won't be the same pressure to keep ingredient costs down.

Rose & Crown can have all the greatest lamb recipes in the world but they're useless if they can't get quality lamb at a reasonable price.

Having a recipe is useless if they don't have a reliable supplier of the lamb itself. Can't make Lamb and Barley soup without one of the main ingredients! :lmao:

We had dinner at R&C on 10/17 and we were not impressed. We had a great table outside, but the food was not good. My mother had some sort of pork and it was very dry. I had chicken, and it too was not good. We have dined there many times in the past and really enjoyed the shephards pie, but it was not on the menu. Overall, the only good thing was the BEER! (which you could get at the stand outside the restaurant). I did not check out the luch menu, so I can't help you there, but overall, I was not impressed.

I agree- but I have noticed lamb on other WDW restaurant menus. It's not a big deal, I'll just take my dining dollar somewhere else. I just miss the lamb barley soup- it was my favorite thing on the menu. That and a salad would be my meal.

I didn't mean to offend...........

Thanks for your input on the "why" of it all everyone. I guess I'd rather not have lamb if the supply isn't good.
I'm hoping that bumping will give some more concrete info on the lunch menu. Anyone been there for lunch recently?

BTW, DH saw the new menu and says he'll enjoy bangers and mash and doesn't want to switch to another location.

If it's just the two of you, I would go for it - I'm sure you'll find something you'll like on the menu. I always order the fish & chips and I think they're yummy! Besides, who cares about the food? It's the beer that matters!:thumbsup2

R&C was a good restaurant, but it's gone downhill recently. The new menu is extremely limited. The fish & chips are not very good (Soggy, chewy mess). The CS is cheaper, fresher and tastier than what is served in the restaurant. You'll have a much nicer meal someplace else.
