Help me with my points, please :)

We've never borrowed significantly before. And I am so confused at this point. I need to know where we stand point wise, because I know we need to add points, but I also need to book a big trip and need to know how many points in will have in August of 2008 available to me.

We own 510 points - August UY

We have used all of 2007.

We have used all of 2008.

We have used a majority of 2009 (many trips with many, many people).

My question is this: Do our 2010 points become available to borrow in August of 2008? I'm just not clear on what use year has ended and which use year has begun.

All points use is based on date of stay, not when you make the reservation. You would only be able to borrow 2010 for a date of stay on or after August 1, 2009.

I don't see how you can have used a majority of 2009, or any of 2009 for that matter. I thought you had to be within the time frame of one Use Year in order to borrow the points from the next. In other words, I thought you couldn't borrow your August 2009 into 2008 until August 1, 2008 - which is still two months away.

I've used (almost) all of my 2009 points because my Use Year is march, and I borrowed them for stays this spring and summer, all after March 1.

In your case, is it possible you have used all of 2007 and borrowed (and used) all or almost all of 2008, but not any of 2009? If that is the case, once August 1, 2008 gets here, you could have another 510 points from your 2009 available to make reservations.

That is not corrrect. Points use is based on date of stay, not date of reservation. You don't have to wait until the start of the use year. She could have borrowed 2009 for a stay after August 1, 2008.

I am looking ahead to future trips and trying to figure it all out. I don't want to get caught short for future trips and we're holding off on adding on just in case the contemporary becomes a reality.

So, if I understand this correctly, as of right now, I still have 120 points in my August 2009 use year. I can use those to book anything after August 2008. When the booking window opens up for stays after August 2009, I would then be able to use my August 2010 points, correct?

Gosh, I run a business, play with numbers all day and I feel like an idiot each and everytime I try to figure out use year. LOL.

Yes, August 2010 points can be borrowed for stays where you check into your resort on or after August 1, 2009.
