Help me with my Halloween costume

I want to be a funny witch for Halloween, but all the costumes that I find are for sexy witches or scary witches. I'm thinking something along the lines of Witchiepoo that was on HR PufnStuf (yes I know that makes me old) or one of the witches from Hocus Pocus. It seems like Carol Burnett played a witch once on her show, but I can't find any pictures of it.

Do you have any suggestions for "funny" witch items?

I loved WitchiePoo!

If you get a witch hat, you can tack inside of it pipe cleaners or small wires and then smoosh them. It will make the hat look crooked and bent on the outside.

Wear a black dress to your knees and then wear striped socks or tights and mary janes for shoes.

I would also think of a prop. A wand that is crooked or maybe a trick-or-treat bag/pumpkin with spiders or things that you can throw at people?

Or you can get a dog-shaped purse and call it Toto!

Put putty on your nose to make it long and ugly and then take a piece of it and make a wart someplace on your face and stick hairs in it and make one hair REALLY long.

I think most of the costumes must be designed by men as most of them look like streetwalker attire. honestly not everybody wants to look like a 'ho.

Try going with a riff on the "usual" witch related attire. Instead of a traditional witch's hat, try one of those uber fancy (wide brimmed preferably) hats that you see in some shops. One with feathers and a color other than black (purple?) would be cool.

Once you choose the unusual hat, pick up on the color and use it in your non-traditional outfit. Find some shimmery shirt (satin, or lame) in a second hand shop or one of those off price store like Ross. You can pick up a skirt of nearly any proportions for not too much money in the same sort of places.

You could get one that is tiered, and long (make sure it is full) and then tie it up on the side in a huge knot to hold one side up near your knees. In the knot you could intertwine some feathers (or whatever would compliment the hat)...

Just have total fun with it! Who says witches can't be eccentric! LOL!

I say, go with the "Bad (fun, wink wink) Witch" but super stylin'

No crooked hat, or bad nose, warts etc....

A smart black cocktail dress, black hose and (pointy, a must) shoes. Maybe some black elbow length gloves.

Thanks for your suggestions so far. You have given me some great ideas!!

I agree that many of the costumes look like streetwalker attire. I don't know that I would wear them even if I had the body for them.
