Since I'm going solo, I'm toying with a split stay. All of these are in or around my budget. Please help me decide!

If you want to spend the money, I would go for AKL/WL. We stayed in a Pool room at AKL and loved it, the view of the pool is georgeous and any room with a pool view will be a good location. I was afraid that we might miss out on the animal experience, but there are actually a number of viewing points that I loved to check out, so I was not dissappointed not having the Savannah outside my window.

Otherwise I think it really depends on what you want to do during your time at WDW. I would pick the resort closest to your favourite park.

If you can afford the AKL/WL split, that is the one I would go for. I have never stayed at the AKL, but would love to. On our last trip, we had a woods view room near the otter pound. We could not see the the castle from our room, but we could see the fireworks throught the trees. Everynight as the DS's fell asleep, my DH and I sat on the balcony drinking coffee watching the fireworks. After the fireworks we we sat on the balcony listening to the sound of the woods, and going over the plan for the next day. It was the best Disney trip so far.
Have a great trip:thumbsup2

I would prefer to stay at two deluxe resorts for the entire trip (AKL/WL) than 3 days at a value.

If you do choose a combination that includes POP, stay there first.

I voted 3 nights POP, 3 nights POLY. To me, these 2 resorts are the most different from each other. Plus, being on the monorail after using only busses will be wonderful.:goodvibes

I chose the 2 Deluxe resorts...after joining DVC & having spent 8 nights at SSR in May, & 9 nights at Dolphin/BCV last week, I've become a "resort snob".

Thanks to everyone who's voted so far :flower3: I keep going back and forth ... stay cheap or really do it up for my solo bday/grad trip.

I should say that my "dream" resort would be the Poly. I haven't stayed there since the late 70's (which I barely remember)!

I guess I have to ask: are the deluxes REALLY worth it?

IMO, Beach Club is definitely worth it.
We're staying at AKV this Christmas, but BCV is my family's top pick for 10 days next summer.

Every time we eat at 'OHANA (one of DH's favorite dining places), DH says that the Poly "looks really old", & he has no desire to stay there....which is fine with me. After staying at BCV (just got back on Sunday), I have no desire for the Poly.

I love the YC/BC/BW area, & we did our honeymoon at the BC, so that would be my choice.

:) I love the BC, so I vote for s stay there. If the money isn't an issue for the split stay at the two deluxes, then I wouldn't even factor a value into the equation, I would do a moderate and BC!
