Help me understand having a DVA and using the Disney Visa Chase card

I've researched and read and can't figure out how exactly I would use both of the above. I use the Disney Visa Chase because of the six month deferred 0% financing. I'm confused as to how this would work when using the DVA? Would I not be able to take advantage of the 6-month financing, since I'm really paying the cruise fare out of the DVA? Also I'm confused on the timelines, I know you cannot withdraw funds before 120 days. Does this mean, again, the six-month deferred financing cannot be used, since I would have to pay in full from the DVA at the 90 PIF date? I may be confusing matters, so TIA for any help!

I don't believe using the Disney Visa to make payments into a Disney Vacation Account qualify for the 0% interest. It will qualify for 2% rewards, though.

Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks, that's what I was guessing. .. I would have to give up that 0% financing perk.

As a note, the 0% financing offer is only for "select vacation packages" and not necessarily all Disney vacation charges. Room-only, separate tickets, onsite expenses (dining, souvenirs, etc.) don't qualify. Though you can get the 0% by pre-paying gratuities (or any amount) to your DCL onboard account. You'll have to decide which is better for you -- the 0% financing or the DVA.

Thanks. We have had the Disney Visa for 6 yrs, so I know about all that... no clue on the DVA, though. Thanks again!

I'm doing basically what you describe. You get the 2% points when you charge DVA funds to the Disney Visa, but not the 0% interest. The 120 day thing is just that the account has to have been open that long in order to get the $20 per $1000 spent gift card. You can use DVA funds before the 120 day mark, but they won't count towards the gift card. I just use the same DVA account over and over so I don't have to worry about the 120 day limit. Kinda nice getting $40 in Disney rewards for every $1000 I spend towards the cruise (2% CC reward + gift card).

So basically I'd have to pick between the gift cards or the 6-mo deferred. It's pretty hard to say goodbye to that Disney Visa perk; guess I have a lot to think about!

I use my Disney Visa to buy gift cards from sams club when I have a chunk saved up. I then transfer the gift cards to the DVA. Then I'll use the DVA to pay off my cruise. I get redemption money from Disney Visa, savings from buying the gift cards from sams and then bonus from the DVA. The gift cards from the Visa and the DVA, I'll put on my on board account to pay towards our extras. Seems better - for us - than the 0% interest.

We don't have a Sam's Club near us... what's the situation with the gift cards?

They sell them on-line as well. $142.98 for $150 worth of cards. I figure on 27 packs (or so) at $7.02 will save us close to $200 on the cruise. I believe they sell $500 cards occasionally at an even bigger savings.

Maybe another store near you has some sort of deal that would work for you.

The idea is that you are paying less money than the face value of the card, so for example if you could get a $100 card and only pay Sams, (or whoever) $90, then you'd save $10, then get quite a few of the cards to use to pay for your cruise, you save $$$.

I think with regard to those places you can order on line without being a member. I know that's the case with BJs.

We paid our deposit with our Disney Visa because we wanted a particular stateroom and needed our TA to book immediately. So we enjoyed 6 months interest free on that part and 2% back in rewards since I have the premier card. But after that I purchased Disney GC's from Target using my Red Card, giving me a 5% discount on the GC's. I combined them and put them into my DVA to pay for the rest of the cruise. We had some other Disney spending in our DVA so I just go the email that I am getting my bonus of $200. That will be nice to add the the TA's OBC. It is small percentages, but it defintely adds up.

Once a year Target has a day where you can purchase Target GC's at 10% (or something like that) and then you can use those to buy Disney GC's.

I like knowing I am saving here and there.
