Help me step out of my box

I'm afraid of heights, and I am afraid of roller coasters. However, this trip, I vowed to do ANYTHING my dd (9) wanted to do, as it was just her and myself (my aunt came too but she gets motion sickness, although we DID get her on 7D and Star Tours, both which she said were doable but she would not do them again lol)..... well, she wanted BTMR and 7D, and those 2 ended up being her favorite rides of all, so I went on them over 8 times with her during our visit. And by the 2nd trip around, I was in love. My trick was to do the little scream or WOOOOO as we were going around, as when I held my breath it seemed to make me more tense and uneasy. I had a BLAST. Hopefully you can work your nerve up to step outside of your box like I did, because the results were pure joy from my dd and I enjoyed it too. :)

I hate drops and I get violently motion sick on things that go around, so I am somewhat limited at WDW, to say the least! I take motion sickness pills every day so I can handle rides like Dumbo, Jungle Cruise, etc. There's nothing to help with my drop issue, though, so I try to avoid them. I don't do ToT, RnRC, Splash (actually I've done Splash 6 times and am DONE), Space MOuntain, EE, etc. HOWEVER… I love big Thunder Mountain! There are not drops- there are downhills, but they are gentle and not very long. It IS a zippy little coaster when you get going around the corners or over the bunny hops, but they are small so I can do them. If you decide to try Big Thunder or 7DMT, ask to sit in the very front cars. It's a much more controlled ride when you ride close to the engine! Honestly, I know what you mean about hating this kind of ride (it's actually related to brain neurochemistry so nothing you can really do about it), but I think you'd be OK on BTRR and 7DMT- and Kali River Rapids, because although it looks like there is a big hill right at the beginning, it's only uphill, not down. There is one drop, but it's really more of a downhill glide than anything else, you can see the bottom (which isn't that far away), and the big concern here is not the downhill but the WATER! This is where you'll get wet if you are in the "wrong" seat!

I think you're kidding :) but therapy for rides? LOL

She said a phobia of anything she doesn't have control over. People have all kinds of phobias-heights, dark, spiders, going outside, etc. That is what therapy is for. I don't go on some rides because I have motion sickness, this is not a phobia.
