help me start pin trading

I am going on my trip this fall and would like to get my son started in pin trading. I see there is a post with ebay sellers and which ones were good and bad to buy from. Does the cast member still have a different color laynard for kids to trade and will my 7 year old son be egible to trade from this? Also now with different events like MVMCP there are pins out for this I would presume. Where do you look for pins for special events and are they more costly than the regular pins? How much are pins going for? I now it may vary but what is a broad range? Any info I can read up on pin trading? Thanks everyone for your help to get started with.

Yes, the CMs still have the teal lanyards, they are for kids 12 and under. It looks like your other questions are directed towards WDW and since I'm a DL regular I really can't answer them, so I'll let someone else take care of that for me.
