Help me please :(

I would definitely call Lost and Found to see if it turned up. I would think that if it was a case of being accidently tossed in a laundry cart, they wouldn't know which room it came from and are waiting for a guest to claim it.

My son left his beloved SF Giants baseball cap under the seat in Star Tours last month. He told a cast member as we were leaving the ride, but they couldn't find it in a search between rides. I called Lost and Found a couple of weeks later when we were home. They had the hat and happily mailed it to us, free of charge. It's worth a try to call, if you haven't already done so.:)

Why would anyone want a swim top. I have been several times. We leave things out in the room all the time and nothing has been taking.

Just wondering where you hung it up? Was it out on a balcony?
The reason I ask was at a family reunion one year, we ended up with a bathing suit on our balcony that had fallen from above.

If you hung the bathing suit up in a bathroom, then I agree there is probably a good chance it fell and was mixed in with the towels.

As PP have said, I find it hard to believe a maid would want to take someone's used article of clothing - especially a bathing suit. And, your DVDs should fit well in the safe - otherwise I would put it in my suitcase and lock the suitcase... but, truth be told, I have stayed in several hotels here, there, and everywhere, and other than a stray bathing suit wandering into my midst, never had anything taken.

My DD13 brought one of her anime movies with us and she put it in her dresser drawer under her clothes because the safe was full of other things like wallets and the little portable DVD player.

We also bought our portable DVD player so she could watch it along with several other movies she brought because there isn't a DVD player in the room.

Depending on where you stay, there may not be a way to watch your anime unless you bring something that will play it.

I don't leave anything hanging on the clothes line in the bathroom. I normally will move it to a hanger and put it on the hanging rack near the sink area when I'm going to leave the room. But I also pile the dirty towels in the bathtub which is why I do it this way.

We also put everything away before leaving the room except for stuffed animals. Those we put on the table in the room just in case the housekeeper wants to do something fun with them.
Once we returned to the room to find Pluto with the remote on top of a pile of pillows with the other animals around him. It was cute.

I hope your next trip goes well and you don't have any problems!

DH and I have been to the world 11 years in a row and are 4 days away from our next visit :cool1::banana::banana:....and we have stayed at many different resorts many values and the last 2 years at moderates and we have never had anything stolen from our roomall we have come home o is Disney Magic!:wizard: that the great mouse keepers leave for us. Hope this helps. ~Bayb

As the news article Harlemgirl720 linked to demonstrates, housekeepers who steal get caught pretty easily, and Disney makes an effort to catch them. OTOH, things -- particularly clothes and stuffed animals -- do get gathered up with laundry pretty often, and when things accidentally fall in the trash housekeepers can throw them out, and, even though no one did anything truly wrong, those things can be gone forever. :sad1:

Most of the theft at WDW resorts (and hotels in general) is done by people who watch for chances to slip into an unlocked room. Cleaning a room by its very nature involves the maid going in and out of the door and getting towels and stepping into the bathroom and things, so even if the maid is honest, someone could duck in and quickly grab something while her back is turned. Shile I wouldn't worry about the maids stealing my things, I would still try to put away valuables and not bring things on vacation that are so precious I'd be devastated if they were lost. Thieves like vacation areas because people are distracted and not on their guard, and they do hang out even at WDW.

But few of them work very long as housekeepers. ;)

I used to work at a resort gift shop at Disney World, and my fellow coworkers would never have risked their jobs over something so petty.

I went to Disneyland a couple months ago and left my Macbook & DSLR out in plain sight multiple times. Yes, that wasn't too bright of me, but it shows these people get much better/tempting offers.

I have stayed at a Disney resort several times, and I have never had anything stolen. Just the opposite, actually! My first time staying at POFQ, we were in a rush in the morning, and I actually left my pajamas on the floor behind the door. Two weeks later, I got a package from POFQ, and it was my pajamas!! I was so happy, they were my favorite pair! Apparently I'm making this a habit, because on our last family Disney trip, we stayed at a hotel near the airport in Chicago because we had an early flight. I once again left my pajamas in the hotel room, along with a pair of shoes. I don't think I'll ever see those jammies ever again! But, I think I've finally learned to check behind the bathroom door before I leave any hotel! In fact, I'm getting a little crazy about it - I think my last hotel stay I checked a dozen times before I left! :lmao:

I understand your dilemma. I was there a couple of weeks ago and saw on the news that one of the maids was arrested at one of the Disney hotels.

http://www.disneybymark.com/2013/08/22/police-sting-catches-disney-resort-maid-stealing-20/

They did a sting and caught her with her hand in the cookie jar. But don't let one bad apple spoil your trip. CastMembers are great.

We were in Disney in late August, and our 2nd evening there I was watching the news and saw this on the news. They planted $100 bill in a safe and recorded the serial number and then searched and found the exact bill hidden in her phone case. I think it was at All Star Movies.

This kind of thing could happen anywhere. At least we know Disney takes action, and this kind of thing should deter others from stealing, I would think. A good friend of mine uses the old saying, honesty is the only policy.

Now that is magical:)

This thread makes me curious. I wonder if the person who left the pair of underwear behind the nightstand in our room at ASMu two years ago thinks the maid stole their underwear :lmao:

I haven't had anything stolen, but, on the other hand, this last trip I didn't take my camera and it's a good one, so I locked it in my suitcase. I have left some money on the table with my extra change and it's always there when I come back...There can be a bad egg in the dozen but not often...

Enough PPs have posted their thoughts about the loss of the swim top. Enough said. I still, however, can't believe that the OP would name the housekeeper and accuse her of theft with no evidence whatsoever. And you don't even know that the housekeeper who was in the room was the same one who signed the card that was on the shelf. I am very glad that the mods blanked out the name as quickly as they did. One case of libel averted.

OP, I don't know how old you are, or if you are just naive, but why would you jump to the conclusion that a housekeeper would risk losing her job by stealing a worthless PART of a swim suit? Stop and think about it- it's ludicrous.

There is no reason for any undue anxiety about the security of your belongings at a Disney resort. The risk is no higher or lower than at any other hotel in the world. There is a safe in every room. Use it. Better still, don't bring anything with you that is irreplacable or of particular great value to you. This is common sense for anyone travelling anywhere. If you do have articles of importance in the room, put them out of sight in the safe or in a drawer before you leave the room.

LMHO XDDD :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: i just HAD to reply to this post because it struck me as particularly funny XD :) thanks for adding some humor to this Thread :)

I read the linked news story about the maid that was caught stealing cash, and it says she stole it out of the safe in the room.
How was a housekeeper able to unlock the safe? I can't imagine housekeepers would have keys to the room safes? Maybe she stole or was given a key by someone in security?
I wonder if she had a key, how easy it is for any housekeeper to obtain a key to the room safe? I hope the crack DISNEY INVESTIGATIVE TEAM followed up on that aspect as well!
