Some of you may or may not know that my family received a trip to Disneyland from the Ellen show. They are allowing us to choose the days and they will be calling soon to book the trip. So, I have to finalize the dates. Now, I have already talked to really good friend and we thought that perhaps we should go the second week after spring break. Arriving on a Sunday so that the park will be open later.
I am not sure if we will be receiving a 3 day or 4 day park hopper. One of our 3 days in the park will be our travel day. I want to go when I will get the most park hours. Dh wants to go as soon as possible. So he is saying March. If we went in March I was thinking the 19th -21st. But I am worried about Spring break crowds. I can do crowds but I can't do it's so crowded that they close down the parks!! :scared1: What day would you choose and why? Or do you have a better idea?

Spring Break does NOT get busy like Christmas week. I have gone at Spring Break for the last three years and will go again this year. It is a busier time, but they have not closed to parks for capacity! Also your chances of having rides closed for refurbishment will be lower if you go during a more popular time like Spring Break. In fact I will be there the same week (week of March 19th). Using FastPass helps tremendously, as does hitting the parks early, taking an afternoon break (if you like), and then returning to the parks later in the evening.

How cold do you think it will be? Is it rainy that time of year down there?

It hasn't rained during any of my Spring Break trips in the last couple years. I guess never say never? But I'd highly doubt it. February can still be wet but late March is really pretty nice. I usually wear jeans and a hoodie in the morning and after the sun goes down, but during the day I take off the hoodie and wear a tank top or t-shirt. It's usually nice and sunny, about 70 as the high, 50's as the low at night.

The week of the 22nd is the week that I am referring to. :thumbsup2

I would far prefer this period over the March period. The hours will probably be more limited since this is after Spring Break, while the other is at the start. Both will have rehabs. April may have shorter hours and more limited entertainment. The crowds will be much better if that is your biggest concern.

I would go in a season you haven't been already. Do you get down to Disneyland often?

We try and go once a year. But we haven't been in two years. We usually stay for longer then 3 nights 4 days. We usually 5 days 6 nights. With a four days in the park and a travel day before and after. But we usually drive. So for our family those days are needed. I can deal with a busy DL I just don't want to be there during crazy DL. We have never seen Fantasmic so that would be a plus for us.

Just make sure your there over a full weekend then so you can see the shows. Can you go say Thursday to Tuesday??

My understanding is that I can pick any days I want but we only get three days in the park. I have 5 girls to consider in my planning too. Ages 11, 9, 7, 5, and 1. Because the trip is a gift I will only be there 3 nights 4 days. :)

We were there last week of March last year and it rained the whole time it seemed! We have been other years and it has been beautiful! Have fun whatever you decide! I would go off season if I could. My girls school schedule and sports have dictated very busy times lately!

Arrive Saturday, not sunday. That'll give you 2 weekend nights.

In March or April? I noticed that every Saturday is blocked for Socal passes and almost every Sunday. You don't think it will be too busy during the day? So then we would do the whole fast passes in the morning. A break in the middle of the day and go back in the evening? Then Monday would be a low key day on our last day. What about flying on the weekends is that harder. Are they airports busier?

Still April should have the edge for crowds.

Weekends are always busy. You aren't easily going to be able to find a better weekend to visit.

I would just like 3Minnies suggested. Start on Saturday, take a first chance at the night shows. Have Sunday as a back up. Use Monday as a sleep in day, and then enjoy rides with little waits.

Flying is busiest during the week, because of business travel.

I also recommend April over March if you can do it. I've seen too many rainy Marches in the past few years to chance it like that. You have a better chance of more sun/warmer days during April. I would recommend getting there on a Friday or Saturday to be able to benefit from longer hours in the parks.

That sounds good! Now I just have to get The Ellen show to call and book our trip with us! I can't wait!!!
