Help Me Please :In The Process of renting points

Can someone tell me why the cash rate for a DVC hotel is cheaper then buying points. I am in the process of renting points and was told there is no vacancy for 1 of the days but I could put a room on my credit card for approx. $350 but if I purchased the 54 points at 10 or even 8 dollars a point it would cost me well over $400 a night. Can someone please explain? Can I get a DVC member to make a reservation using cash in lieu of points at a cheaper cost then renting points?

Is it a weekend night? Points needed for Fri or Sat are much higher than Sun-Thurs

DON'T DON'T DON'T make this deal. The DVC discount on cash ressies is available to members staying in the room only. You'll get there, won't have a member card, and Disney can, and probably will charge you rack rate.
