i'm having a nightmare of a time with expedia travel.
i booked the winter dreammaker pkg thru them and now to my horror realize that the cancellation policy for the hotel and the "passes" are different. i can cancel the hotel five days before with no penalty, BUT will never get my money back for the ultimate park hopper passes that are linked to this room!!! i can't believe it!

if you can avoid it, don't book thru them. I don't even know if i'll have to cancel, but if i do, i'm out about $600!!!!

i couldve bought the insurance, but didn't read closely enough

You could try contacting Disney directly and see if there's something that they could do for you.

They could always say that they can't encroach on a 'travel agent's' reservation, but it can't hurt to try......

Aren't the Ultimate Park Hopper Passes good forever? Just keep them for another trip? Seems like it's what you might get stuck doing.
 
according to expedia, these length of stay passes are date sensitive for the time i would be there. so , no, i wouldn't be able to use them on another trip. that would've been ok with me since we go every year. the crazy thing about this pkg with expedia, is that you can cancel the hotel within 5 days w/o penalty but the ultimate park hoppers that are ONLY GOOD ON THE DAYS you would've been at the hotel are not refundable, transferable,etc. This has to be illegal or something. they are forcing you to buy something that you cannot use if you cancel the hotel portion of the pkg.

i was on the phone FOREVER with these idiots, it was really stressful. i called disney guest relations and they said they can't do anything with this package or this practice. disney put me on hold for a while to check something and then i was disconnected!

the only reason i booked with expedia was because their cancellation policy was easier to live with than disney's for this package. i learned the hard way! then to top if off the person at expedia said he would deposit a $50 credit in my account to use on a future trip and i never received that either and they have no record of it... not that i will ever use them again!

Usually the Unlimited Park Hopper passes are keyed into your room key. So your room key and your pass is a plastic credit card type of item.
If you never check in, how do you get the passes???

This is the question that I'd ask Disney. Maybe it's going to be harder to resolve, but there's still a possibility that it can be.

Ultimate Park Hoppers or Length of Stay Passes are just that - to be used only during the number of days you are staying. They run out on your check out day.

Park Hoppers are the passes that you can save (unused days don't expire).

Wow, that is unbelievable!! especially since the UPH can only be used IF you stay at a resort and only DURING the time you are there.
It almost seems illegal....like they are charging you for something they cannot provide since you won't be at the resort.
It sounds like you have not cancelled yet, that this is just a posibility.
I would only worry if I ended up having to cancel.
Pray that you won't.

But if you do....then I would definitely see if you can take it to someone of authority.

Just seems nuts.
 
now i don't feel so crazy! trying to explain to expedia that the passes and room are linked, can't use the pass without a hotel room, they just kept repeating their mantra that attraction tickets are nonrefundable. i know, it's nuts!!!

i'm just sick to my stomach thinking about the fact that i might have to cancel. i don't plan on it, but with it being in jan. you never know what the weather or kids' school illnesses will bring.

they do sell an insurance policy for 6.99 per person that will cover the cancellation penalty on the passes, but they won't let me add it now --you have to buy that when you book and i just didn't think i would need it since i though i was booking the WINTER DREAM MAKER PKG. duh! i told them they are false advertising because if you book this pkg anywhere else, it's just that... a pkg.

i'm not giving up, though. i've talked to one supervisor and 3 expedia employees so far. i'll keep you posted.:(
 
I know someone, a college student who was invited at the last minute to join her boyfriend and his family on a trip to WDW. She bought her air fare separately then went to the Disney site to purchase her UPH. She was told there would be a charge for the room (I assume she was the third adult in the room), and she was charged some $200.+ for the ticket which was mailed to her with the #of consecutive days, and an expiration date of 12/31/03 on the back. After finding out how much it would cost she decided not to go, room charges were dropped but she could not return the ticket. Now she is left with a ticket that will expire soon which is non-transferable...
I Don't know what the ticket looks like. I thought you didn't get it until they linked it to your room key at check-in.
 
If all else fails, perhaps Disney could allow to to upgrade the passes to annuals? It might work and no one loses and the annuals are not good until validated. I would give it a try.
 
i was able to cancel and get a full refund of both the room and UPH passes only if i rebooked thru them immediately and added the attraction wavier insurance. so I did that... better than losing my pass $$$

i noticed on their site now, however, that it is now booked as a package (winter dreammaker) and an insurance policy of $30 per person pops up to cover both the room & pass... others may have complained also!

oh, also got my $50 credit from them for a future reservation..

things are looking up! can't wait til jan 04;)
