My family and I will be staying offsite at Windsor Hills in June. What would be a great dinner idea for arrival night? TIA

What type of thing would you like?

Not too far away is the Longhorn Steakhouse - fab steaks and not too pricey. It is also near SuperTarget so, if you time it right, you can have dinner and grab shopping at the same time.

Head over to DTD and go to the Rainforest Cafe or another restaurant there. Or for a Rainforest Cafe dinner, head over to AK in the evening and have dinner at the one there. Its usually a lot less busy than the DTD one (and closer). We have been several times, and the parking booths were never manned in the evening. If you time it to arrive around park closing, you might catch the characters outside the park entrance.

Gaylord Palms has several nice restaurants.

Downtown Celebration is nice too.

Our kids also love Kobe Japanese (where they cook the food in front of you).

I would recommend either making a reservation or phoning ahead for parties of 10, especially at the popular times to visit WDW.

You'll probably be tired from the trip. I'd be tempted to order carry out from Olive Garden. I've never done it, but I've seen other families carrying in the bags and it always looks like plenty of food for a group.

We planned a dinner at T Rex Restaurant the night we arrived in Oct. We shouldn't have. Every one was tired and two of the kids went to sleep while waiting for the food to come. Travel day is very tiring. One other trip we went to Golden Corral and got take out and brought it back to WH. Everyone was happy to be able to eat quick and go in the pool, especially the kids.

We liked Giordano's in the Fomosa Gardens shopping center, just a few minutes from Windsor Hills. They have great deep dish pizza, along with lots of pastas, salads, etc. You can get restaurant.com gift certificates at great discounts (search for the promo codes). One great tip is that you can call in a pizza order in advance, since it takes about 45 min. for the pizza to cook. We did this one night before we left HS. When we arrived we ordered drinks and salad and the pizza was ready a few minutes later. Much better than waiting all that time, especially with tired kids! The pizza reheats well in the oven for leftovers, too. There's a grocery store in the same shopping center, and Super Target is just a little further along the 192 if you want to do some shopping.

I do not cook--but I offered to make a taco soup and white chocolate bread pudding for my family on Christmas eve while they were at church....you could make the soup ahead of time if driving. Just browned meat and a bunch of cans of other stuff in a crock pot for 2 hours and then the bread pudding took about 10 minutes to make and I think 30-45 to cook. It was spectacular and everyone ate the heck out of it....yep I blew them all away.

Let me know if you are interested---I would eat it with margaritas
