My 40th b-day is May 2nd and I am planning a solo trip to Disney. My best friend who lives in Florida will be joining me on the actual day, but the rest of the trip is ALL MINE - no husband, no child!

What are some things that YOU would do if you went solo? I plan to take the bus and visit some resorts I've never been too. I also want to spend a ton of time at the World of Disney since there isn't anyone to say "it's time to go".

Thanks for your input!:wizard:

take a Disney tour. Pamper yourself with a spa treatment at one of the deluxe resorts. Do afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian. Enjoy Boardwalk and/or Pleasure Island. Do your favorites at the parks. I absolutely love watching Miyuki, a candy artist at Japan in Epcot. Sometimes, I'll see her twice. I've even been blessed with a candy sculpture on my last trip in Dec 2007. I thought she only did it for the kids, but I was asked first; so, I had a dream come true. I like listening to the Voices of Liberty more than once, too. Go to restaurants you like. Have a snack or drink at the resorts you visit. If you want to take advantage of all of it join the Premiere Dining Plan. That plan includes recreation. It just depends how long of a day you want to do as to whether or not that plan is worth it.

I do my first solo trip in Apr 2008 and I think it's going to be a blast.

Curiously - I used to live in Lexington, SC, I am also turning 40 this year (April 19), and I will be at WDW May 4 - 9. If you are there then - I'll get you a Mickey on a stick Ice Cream to celebrate!

Curiosities aside -

When I go solo I do all the things that I like the best, example, watch as many afternoon parades as I can! Treat yourself to the Spa! I prefer Mandara at the WDW Dolphin, but Saratoga Springs, and Grand Floridian are nice too - they all have on-line menus: GF - http://www.relaxedyet.com/grand_floridian_spa.asp, SS - http://www.relaxedyet.com/saratoga_springs_spa.asp, Dolphin - http://www.mandaraspa.com/Main/SpaView.aspx?SpaID=8
Hunt for Hidden Mickey's. Take things slow. Make a reservation at a restuarant you've always wanted to try but can't afford to as a family. I'll think of some more...

Definetly do one of the tours! I go single frequently and whichever tour I take is usually a highlight. Also make sure you take advantage of whicever rides are doing single rider lines!

I turn 40 in June, and I'll be at WDW from May 1- 5!! It isn't a birthday celebration trip per se, but it is kind of a birthday treat for myself. I will be meeting up with friends that I know from various places, and we'll be doing the Minnie Marathon 5K on the morning of May 3. Most of us will just be walking it, not running - we're just doing it for fun! The rest of the time we're gonna eat, drink, lounge by the pool, ride a few rides in the parks, and I'm gonna do some shopping, as I think it will be my only trip to the U.S. for the year.

If you can, I would make a reservation for the California Grill and request to sit at the kitchen view seat. They have a limited number of stools that face into a world class kitchen. Watching them prep food and the interaction of this team is very entertaining. And you just may get some bonus treats passed over the counter. Time it right and you can walk outside on the balcony and watch the fireworks.

Happy birthday

what to do??? whatever you want...that is the point. i had a great time when i went solo to disney (see report below). i went at easter time and had a ball. my only regret was still doing the parks commando style. my feet hurt so much and i ended up leaving disney pretty ill. so my advice, take it slow and do what you like. for me, it was sleeping till noon if i wanted or riding the silliest ride 40 times if i wanted. i love the pastry place in france and one of my favorite things is to get a napoleon and head to the gazebo at the lake near the back entrance to epcot where boardwalk is and just sit there and enjoy with a cappucino. best hour of my trip!
