My UY are as follows
CCV - Dec 100 pts
VGC - Feb 153 pts
AUL - Feb 160 pts

I’m going to buy VDH 200 pts (potentially switching to Poly if that becomes avail at a great price)

If I opt for a Dec UY I would pay less upfront MF right?
Does getting a Feb UY make it much less of a good deal for MB if buying soon?

We tend to travel every Feb, April, Aug, and either Oct or Dec.

Do you think VDH would be better have Feb UY to pair with VGC and AUL? Or Dec to pair for WDW to maybe book RIV?

Which UY would work best for FW 1,4, 7 or 10?

I can ask my guide but figured I’d ask here, if I do VDH on the 90 pmt plan and choose a Feb UY and then switch into Poly on Oct 1 can I change to DEC UY if I haven’t closed?

Dues are prorated based on the date you buy in the calendar year, not based on how many days are left in the use year so no, you will not pay less upfront maintenance fees.

You DO want to buy before the use year starts though so you can still get last year's points. Since you seem to travel basically during all times of the year, use year matters less unless you think there are specific times when you would travel to Disneyland more frequently. But keeping in mind that you want to try and receive the 2023 points I'd imagine, I would purchase December to receive the 2023 points since February is already in it's 2024 use year and you would not receive last year's points.

I don't have personal experience with changing contracts entirely within the 90 day payment plan option but I've read people doing that on here so /shrug.

Seconding Dec UY as it would work well for all of the potential FW you mentioned. On the other hand, a Feb UY would be the worst UY for FW 1 or 4.
Thank you! I’m honestly still trying to figure out UY and I think having Dec makes it a bit trickier to grasp.

If I wasn’t using the contract until Feb 2025 would it make a difference?

I mean either way you're still giving up 2023 points by going with a February use year instead of a December use year. I'm not sure how many points you were planning to buy but you're essentially giving up 20 dollars * the number of points you were planning to buy since you could've sold those points back to Disney through Magical Beginnings.

February is currently in it's 2024 use year. December is currently in it's 2023 use year. If we were having this discussion in December 2024 or January 2025 then it wouldn't matter because both February and December would be in their 2024 use year. But you have the opportunity to get the December 2023 points for free here. You can opt to go with the February use year, you'll just be giving up the 2023 points.

Assuming you were planning on buying 150 VDH points.. 150*20= 3,000 dollars worth of points

We are planning to do MB. But was thinking that since trip would in Feb 2025 that giving up 2024 points was the same as giving up 2023 for Dec. But honestly UY still is very confusing to me.

It's not the same because you are giving up 2024 instead of 2023. It's the same if you don't care about a years worth of points. Instead of getting 51 years worth of points, you're getting 50 years of points.

Also because dues are prorated for the year, you're paying for the prorated 2024 dues and selling that back to Disney with the February use year.

With a December use year, you are getting the 2023 dues entirely for FREE. You didn't pay for that because we're not in 2023. So you're selling those back to Disney AND you get to keep the 2024 points that you paid your prorated dues for.

Keep all of your west coast properties in the same UY. That way if you sell CCV you have everything in the same UY.

I do just want to add that if you opt for PVB tower, those dues for 2024 will be prorated for all UYs on opening date in December, assuming points based bookings start then.

VDH will be from date of purchase.

This is a good point I didn’t think of.
Yeahhh so it's either an extra year of points or potentially make it simpler down the road if you decide you don't want to keep your CCV contract. If you're going to keep the CCV contract for the foreseeable future then it's probably worth it to put VDH in the December UY and get the extra year of points, if not then February so maybe you have to do a little less mental gymnastics eventually and can simplify it down to a single use year

I’m all about instant gratification. So I will probably opt for the extra points.

It also would be helpful if she wants to use banking/borrowing for extra days with Aulani/VGC vs CCV.

As someone who has a Dec, Feb, and March UY…. they each have their pros and cons.

Yeahhh I mean I own multiple use years too.

Who knows if she wants to extend her stays at WDW though?

It’s not like she’s going to regularly be able to use the points at VGC. You could maybe make an argument if she wanted to combine with AUL at 7 months. But it sounds like she wants the extra year of points.

Edited my post to include my point amounts, unsure if that makes any difference in which UY to pair VDH with. But wanted to add so I can get all the info.

So basically you’ll get an extra 200 ($4000 worth) points going with a December UY and pairing it with Copper Creek, both of your memberships could function independent of one another because you’ll have 200+ points in each.

OR if you go with a February use year you will give up the 2023 points but will be able to pair the VDH points with AUL/VGC. Should you sell the CCV contract you’ll be back down to a single use year.
