Help me pick sheets Please!

Since you DISers are so helpful, I thought I'd post here regarding the most recent dilemma in my life: purchasing sheets.

We bought a king size bed today so I am in the market for some new sheets. I currently own some 600 thread count sheets, but I have no idea about any specifics.

So, should I buy Egyptian Cotton or regular cotton? Should I buy Sateen or not? I like my 600 thread count, so is a higher hread count worth the extra cost? I plan on purchasing through Overstock.

I buy the Sateen any count over 400 is soft enough for us. So I usually buy the 400ct. When DS went to college I could only find 250 count for his XLong Twin bed he said it was like sleeping on sandpaper!! I had to buy full size 400ct. and he tucks them in! Spoiled or what LOL

I love Egyptian, they wash so nice. I had sateen but gave them to my inlaws, I cannot stand anything that is the least bit slippery (?) to sleep on! I was looking at Kohl's during their sale yesterday and they had the 600 count Egyptian ones, king size, for 79.99 I think! Good luck, I think it is really more a matter of preference of texture.

not much help from me because we swear by Jersey Sheets. We have a king size bed and they run about $39 here. They are so soft. Our problem with regular sheets was they were always coming off the bed. Jersey sheets stay put. Gotta love em
