We will be at WDW for 1 night, staycation. Typhoon Lagoon day 1, MK day 2. Will have our own car but will likely bus to MK, 2 adults, 2 kids (15,11). We've stayed everywhere on property multiple times but I just can't decide. We are going in a couple of weeks so I need to decide soon.

1) go El Cheapo- ASMu for $172. My kids love the all stars. I don't love them, don't hate them. Its only 1 night so maybe this makes the most sense.

2) CSR standard- $226. We love CSR, we actually stayed here 3 times last year but all in the tower Chronos Club. It's been awhile since we've stayed in the regular rooms though and maybe we just need a change.

3) Port Orleans Riverside standard- $230. We've only stayed here once in a royal room and that was 8 years ago. So it would be something new but it's the most expensive, hmmmm.

Any thoughts would be appreciated or if you have another option that would be appreciated as well.

Without knowing any of your criteria or preferences, its basically a question of which of those three do I (or anyone else responding) like best. For me, that's Riverside. I really love the grounds, decor of the buildings, and I find the river very relaxing. I don't like All Stars and the GDT ruined me for ever staying in a Coronado standard room again lol. So I would go with Riverside

If you stay at Port Orleans, you can take a boat to Disney Springs in the evening. I don't know if that's enough of an advantage to justify the additional cost over All Star Music. I also haven't stayed at the All Stars or at Coronado, so I don't know what they have to offer and how the room sizes compare.

If it’s only one night, I might splurge on a monorail resort for easy access to MK.

I’d never pay for multiple nights at those, preferring to prioritize other things in the budget.

If money is any concern, it’s one night - go All-Star, keep the kids happy.

I am one that does not believe in paying for something I will not use, so if you are not going to really use the resort advantages, then I would do all stars. I never pay $300+ more just to save 10-20 minutes because of location.

They are all bus to where you are going so no advantage. You will not use the grounds so no advantage. The only one that has a slightly shorter ride is PO. CSR and AS are essentially next to each other and a mile down the road from AK being the furthest from MK. Although I have only stayed value once and mod 3 times to me the rooms are essentially the same with the mods having nicer grounds and better amenities but again non will be used. I would stay at AS get a decent meal at DS you will be heading there anyway if you take the bus to TL.

If rope dropping, there’s potential to save much more than 10-20 minutes by being at the front of the line. If not, then I agree.

Of the ones on your list, I’ve only stayed at All Stars. We really enjoyed it. The price is right & your kids love it. Sounds like a win!
Have a fun trip!

CSR, because the rooms are larger. ASMu (often stay here) rooms are 260sqft. Rooms at CSR are 314sqft. Your kids aren't little anymore, and the extra space would be nice. I'd eat the $50+ for one night and stay in the bigger room. Besides... maybe you'll get Pixie Dusted to the Tower!

Thank you all for the insight, some things I hadn't thought about. Still haven't decided but I think POR is out of the running, no real benefit here. We are going to an Orlando soccer game that night so the boat to DS, doesn't help. We are also eligible for Shades of green, which would be $241. If the path to the Poly was still open, we would stay here without hesitation but the bus situation to MK is less than ideal here as it is now, so I think I've ruled that out.

An MK resort is a good idea but CR is the cheapest and it's over $400. That seems silly to pay for 1 night just to be able to walk to MK vs bus.

Just found the Dolphin for $195, that includes the resort fee. Hmmm. I need to stop looking and just draw straws at this point.

For one night, just do the all stars or the Dolphin (if that includes the resort fee/parking). If you're going to Typhoon Lagoon during the day and then to a soccer game that night, I don't think you'll have much time to use the amenities of whatever hotel you choose, just pick the one that you think you can sleep the most comfortably in.

ASMu is that much for mid-July? Are there any discounts available? I paid $118/night in May with an AP discount.

I would choose that one anyway. I stayed at ASSp and liked it.

Ok I just checked a random Saturday and it was $183 after a discount.

Yes! That's with a discount which is crazy. I paid $123 in April. There are tons of rooms available, everywhere, it doesn't take a genuis to figure out why.
